NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Planning Commission of the County of Lake, State of California, will hold a public hearing on application UP 08-10 proposing a Use Permit to establish a church/retreat to be used as a monastic residence by up to sixteen monks and nuns. Other activities would include daily visitors for private meditation services, transient guests for meditation retreat services, occasional group meditations for up to twenty guests and quarterly group teaching weekends for up to forty guests. The project is located at 9977 Bottle Rock Road, Kelseyville, APN 011-004-09. The project applicant is Church of Shambhala (Kathy Ord). The Planning Commission will consider adoption of a Mitigated Negative Declaration for this project based on Initial Study IS 08-34. The Initial Study will be available for review in the Community Development Department in the Lake County Courthouse, 255 North Forbes Street, Lakeport, California twenty (20) days before the hearing and the staff report will be available ten (10) days before the hearing.
