LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – A Clear Lake Scullers Women's master's double scull raced at the Wine Country Rowing Classic in Petaluma.

The regatta, held on Sunday, Oct. 23, features rowing and sculling events for open, collegiate, juniors and masters, attended by clubs and schools throughout Northern California.

Masters' events are adult events grouped and handicapped by age.

The double, a two person sculling boat, was raced by Annelle Durham of Upper Lake and Mireya Turner of Lakeport, both of whom learned to row as beginners at Clear Lake Scullers.

They are the first adult masters at the club to compete in a rowing event outside the county, though junior rowers and paddlers have competed in events in the past.

Turner and Durham won a silver medal in their category.

Clear Lake Scullers is a community based rowing and paddling club based in Lakeport.

Lessons are offered in the spring and summer, but there is still opportunity in the fall, weather permitting, to row in team boats and get beginner instruction, or join in and row if you have learned in the past. The club is setting up a facility in Lakeport for ergometer rowing as well.
