CLEARLAKE, Calif. – Glory Days Flag Football League’s (GDFFL) week 9 games last week were played in some beautiful weather which the growing fan base really seemed to appreciate.
Some of the younger ones, who spent the day in their portable playpens, probably didn’t care as much about the final scores though.
The Robinson Warriors fell to the improving Mobb Squad unit 30-7. In the later game, the Aces outscored Kelseyville 62-12.
No. 1 seeded Upper Lake rested with their second and final bye.
On Saturday, Feb. 18, the league will wrap up the regular season for everyone and determine the remaining playoff berths.
Those playoff games will start on Saturday, Feb. 25.

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – The Redbud Audubon Society will host a field trip Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Clear Lake State Park on Soda Bay Road.
The walk will start at 9 a.m. and participants should meet in the parking lot near the visitors center.
Clear Lake State Park is a lovely place to walk and birdwatch; numerous sightings of songbirds, wildfowl, and mammals usually occur.
Pat Harmon of Lakeport will lead the walk and all are welcome.
Remember to pay the parking fee at the gate.

COBB, Calif. – Join the Friends of Boggs Mountain in a hike on the Hoberg Loop Trail in Boggs Mountain State Forest next Wednesday, Feb. 22, at 10 a.m.
This is an opportunity to get some exercise and enjoy the outdoors and the wonders of nature as you walk in the footsteps of Luther Burbank.
Burbank, the famed American botanist who did much of his plant work in Sonoma County, was a guest at Hoberg’s Resort in the early 20th century where he enjoyed hiking the Hoberg Loop Trail.
This will be a moderate paced two-mile hike on moderate terrain and will be led by Darlene Hecomovich.
They will talk a little about Luther Burbank as well as discuss the flora encountered along the way, which will include the ground cover of bracken, bunch grass and mosses, to the understory filled with coffeeberry and manzanita and on to the upper story of magnificent Douglas fir and sugar and Ponderosa sines. Come and enjoy it all as they hike.
Wear sturdy shoes, dress appropriately for weather conditions, and bring water and enthusiasm. Meet promptly at 10 a.m. at the Hoberg Loop Trail Trailhead which is on Entrance Road off Highway 175.
Entrance Road is 0.5 miles north of the entry to Boggs Mountain State Forest and two miles north of Cobb Village.
Turn east on Entrance Road and proceed 100 yards up to the trailhead.

YOLO COUNTY, Calif. – The Department of Fish and Game (DFG) will hold eight limited wild pig hunts at Bobcat Ranch in Yolo County from March 13 to May 2.
Offered through DFG’s Shared Habitat Alliance for Recreational Enhancement (SHARE) Program, a total of 48 hunters will be selected through a random drawing for an access permit to the private Bobcat Ranch property.
Each of the eight hunts will be two days and offered in the following methods: one archery hunt, one apprentice hunt and six general methods hunts.
Permit applications will be accepted for parties of up to two licensed hunters for the archery and general periods.
Applicants may apply for more than one period but will ultimately only be drawn for one. Apprentice hunters must have a 2011-12 junior hunt license to apply for the apprentice hunt.
The Bobcat Ranch is located in Yolo County’s Vaca Mountain foothills, west of Winters.
Hunting under the SHARE Program helps achieve the ranch’s long-term conservation management objectives, including providing public hunting opportunities and controlling the wild pig population.
Applications for the apprentice hunt must be received by 3 p.m. on Feb. 22, 2012.
For general and archery hunts, applications must be received by 3 p.m. Feb. 29, 2012.
