UPPER LAKE, Calif. – The next monthly installment of the Redwood Empire's Civil War Roundtable will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 6:15 p.m., at the Tallman Hotel in historic Upper Lake.

Zane Jensen, a history teacher at Terrace Middle School, will do a presentation on controversial Union General George B. McClellan.

After Jensen's presentation, Confederate President Jefferson Davis (reenacted by John Smoley) will attempt to defend the south's attempts at secession, successfully from Great Britain in 1776, and unsuccessfully from the Northern-controlled federal government in 1861.

A "press conference" is to follow, and the attendees are encouraged to ask "Mr. Davis" questions.

The Civil War Roundtable meets monthly and attempts to cover what happened that month 150 years ago to commemorate the sesquicentennial of the Civil War.

Everyone is welcome, and there is no charge.
