Carle High School would like to give a very special Thanks to Dr. Barry Munitz for donating $850 – for the third year in a row – to completely fund this year's senior plaques.
Senior plaques are a very meaningful remembrance of their time at Carlé that students get to take with them on their journey after graduation.
Students are awarded different “titles” to fit their unique personalities. To show Dr. Munitz our great appreciation for him student Karalena Cole made him his very own “senior plaque.”
After hours of thinking of the perfect award for him, we decided on “The Kind Heart Award” because that perfectly describes him.
Thank you again, Dr. Munitz, and we hope you enjoy your very own piece of Carlé.
Student of the week last week was Tyler Sterling for always being a very hard working student as well as for being one of our sweetest students ever. He often performs community service with the Lower Lake Action Group's monthly dinners, and was Carlé's top credit earner last grading period.
Gold level students for the last grading period were Karalena Cole, Stevie Cook, Nia Edmunds, Darren Gasperoni, Alejandra Gutierrez, Monica Jackson, Christine McQuown, Ashleight Short, Tyler Stirling and Jorge Vieira.
These students all hold special qualities about them and are all always trying to look out for our school. Congratulations Gold level students, you're as good as gold.
At Carlé we would like to welcome new students Sabre Bruffy, Shannika Chandler, Charles Drake, Raina Golden, Nick Paonessa, Robert Shurtliff, Tyler Stroup, and Martinique Throop. Hope you enjoy the peaceful community Carlé entails.
Portfolios last week were Raylon Ray and Marco Ochoa both held on Thursday, Feb. 3. Good job, seniors!
On the same day, Feb. 3, the students helping prepare the student-teacher luncheon got together with three special volunteers from the local Soroptimist club to create a menu, and share among each other ideas for the coming luncheon on Feb. 24.
Student Christine McQuown is taking on the leadership role and creating the invitations while student Arwen King assembled a group of students to thoroughly clean up the kitchen. They did a spectacular job, making it look spotless.
Student government collaborated and decided to raise money for prom. Since Carle is known for our fantastic media designs, what better way to raise money then asking for donations of $10 or more and giving them a choice between 4 different, exclusive key chains, designed, pressed and put together right here at our school.
If anyone would like to donate $10 toward our prom feel free to come by and look at the key chains or call Alan Siegel at 707-994-1033.
Students came together at Austin Park on the morning of Saturday, Feb. 5, for a walk to help the fight against polio.
Kinene Barzin who is a member of the Rotary Club in Clear Lake and is the advisor for Interact and Rotaract at Carlé, said, “This is part of the international campaign to end polio.”
The students feel good knowing they are helping to raise money to help end the scourge of polio.
Upcoming events include hazmat training Feb. 14 through Feb. 23, and the Odyssey of the Mind performance on Feb. 11 at Pomo Elementary School.
Karalena Cole is a student at Carle Continuation High School in Lower Lake, Calif.

Student of the week last week was Derek Grace. Derek took charge of many of the printing processes in our school based enterprise including the printing of nearly all of the mouse pads and will do so again for our next contest, flags.
In addition he handles all the tech to set up for our silver level movies and was the final welcome addition to our current Odyssey of the Mind team.
On Jan. 20 students interested in seeing Universal Technical Institute were escorted by teacher Dan Maes to Sacramento to attend the Monster Jam and explore the school.
“It was well organized, well laid out, and very expensive,” said Maes.
“I thought it was awesome, especially the Ford program,” said student John Warren.
We would like to thank Mr. Maes for running this so students Marco Ochoa, Vince Adams, Levi Floyd, Jason Hammond, Mat Brown, John Warren, Richard Skinner and Arturo Negrete could experience it.
On Jan. 29 Odyssey of the mind members Karalena Cole, Stevie Cook, Momo Englander, Lisa Davis, Daniel Hernandez, Derek Grace and Dylan Ward attended the annual Spontaneous Day at Hidden Valley Elementary School in Santa Rosa last Saturday.
“Spontaneous Day is a lot like popcorn, you're never sure which kernel is going to pop next,” said student Momo Englander.
We would like to thank Principal Ed Zander for taking time to bring us down there so we could enjoy and learn from Spontaneous Day, and would also like to thank Cathy Parker for organizing this so students can enjoy these activities and truly think outside of the box.
“Spontaneous Day is creative problem solving at its purest,” said Parker. “It is hands on and brains on and is my favorite part of Odyssey Of The Mind. Lots of times it's hard to find hands on activities and this is a great way to get together and celebrate. I learned about OM when I was at Lower Lake
Elementary as a coach.”
Finally, we would like to congratulate our arm wrestling winner, returning and now two-time arm wrestling champion Dylan Nevarez. He and all the other first and second place winners were awarded hand made medallions created by students in our school based enterprise.
