County reopens park boat launches

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – The Lake County Public Services Department on Monday gave an update on reopened county maintained boat launches at county parks.


Launches reopened included those at Lakeside County Park between Lakeport and Kelseyville, Lucerne Harbor Park and Keeling Park in Nice.


Public Services said the Clearlake Oaks boat launch should open by Wednesday at the latest.


The launch at Holiday Harbor, which requires a charge for launching as it's not a park, is expected to reopen on Tuesday, according to the Lake County Redevelopment Agency.

HVL Men's Niners host 26 teams in competition

HIDDEN VALLEY LAKE, Calif. – The HVL Men's Niners Golf Club held a 3/3/3 pairs competition on March 31.


The results were:


  • A Flight: The team of Al Murrows/Paul Bertlin was first with net 29, Cliff Hughes/Bill Brewster and Jim Brown/Rick Canevari tied for second at 31.

  • B Flight: Fred Figg/Glenn Neasham finished first with the low net of the day, 26; Tommy Sowell/Doug Carter placed second at 29; and Jerry Tamura/Pete Gumina third with 30.


Fifty two men in 26 teams competed in this event.

Lakeport reopens boat ramps

LAKEPORT, Calif. – The city of Lakeport reported that it has reopened its boat ramps at Third and Fifth streets.


Boaters are asked to observe a no-wake request out to 100 yards from the shoreline.


The community's cooperation is greatly appreciated, city officials said.

Lifeguards sought for Middletown Pool

MIDDLETOWN, Calif. – Lake County Public Services' Parks Division ise recruiting lifeguards for the Middletown Pool this spring 2011, for the summer season.


Special requirements for this position are the possession of a current lifeguard certificate, community cardiopulmonary resuscitation certificate (eight hours), standard first aid certificate (eight hours), and emergency medical service authority certificate (eight hours) or acquire EMSA certificate prior to June 10.


Lifeguard applicants must be at least 15 years of age or older.


Special requirements for the lead lifeguard applicants are to be at least 17 years of age or older and possession of a Water Safety Instructor Certification is preferred.


Public Services Director Kim Clymire encourages all qualified individuals interested in becoming a lifeguard for the Middletown Pool this coming summer season to call 707-262-1618 or come in to the Public Services Department at 333 Second St. in Lakeport to apply.
