This came as a part of TCC’s annual Teachers Rock initiative, which commenced in February.
The $1,000 Amazon gift card sweepstakes by TCC aimed to help teachers enhance their classrooms for student learning experiences.
More than 1,700 teachers registered for a chance to win one of 10 gift cards, where Young was randomly selected as a winner.
The non-winning teachers will still receive a gift from TCC on Teacher Appreciation Day (May 2) to thank them for their efforts.
With their $1,000 Amazon gift card, Young plans to utilize the gift card for classroom supplies for P.E. and art classes, along with additional reading books students wanted in their library.
“I am excited to use this generous gift from TCC to purchase some sensory seats, and wiggle seats to put around my classroom’s U shape table, as well as stock up on supplies such as pencils, sharpeners, erasers, papers, journals, paint, dry-erase boards, markers, etc.” Young expressed. “This recognition has me speechless and I can’t thank TCC enough for seeing the value educators, like myself, bring to our students daily.”
The sweepstakes was attached to TCC’s Teachers Rock initiative, which celebrated its 10th edition this year. TCC created the program in 2014 to give back to and show appreciation toward teachers nationwide. This year, TCC allocated funds to its retail stores to shower local teachers with love and support during the middle of a busy academic year. Each store selected a group of teachers to give back to, with appreciation efforts spanning from catered meals and gift cards, to an assortment of sweets, school supply kits and much more.
“TCC is proud to support these 10 teachers, including Tracy Young, and all educators across our nation who make invaluable impacts on the lives of students,” said Scott Moorehead, CEO of Round Room and TCC. “Teachers are some of the hardest working individuals we have in society today, and all of us at TCC are proud to provide tokens of appreciation toward them each year through our Teachers Rock initiative.”
Round Room, LLC operates 1,269 TCC and Wireless Zone wireless retail stores across 43 states. Its portfolio of companies shares a deep commitment to improving the communities they serve nationwide. Because of this, and the extraordinary impact it makes across its industry, Round Room was honored in Inc. Magazine’s Best in Business in 2022. Round Room was also recognized in the 2023 Top Workplaces USA program, showcasing the company as an ideal employer thanks to its premier company culture and organizational offerings.
As a Culture of Good, Inc. company, TCC makes ongoing investments in the communities it operates in.
In 2022, the company donated more than 140,000 backpacks full of school supplies to children across the nation via its 10th annual School Rocks Backpack Giveaway, marking 1.2 million backpacks donated since 2013.
Through the Big Impact program of the School Rocks Backpack Giveaway, TCC awarded $50,000 in college scholarships this summer.
Additionally in 2022, TCC provided holiday gifts to 24 veteran families, donated nearly $50,000 to children’s-centered nonprofits and 520 teacher supply kits to schools nationwide. TCC’s nonprofit organization, TCC Gives, has provided more than $4.2 million in donations to local nonprofits across the country.

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. — The California Jaycee Foundation announced Joseph Gentle of Kelseyville High School as one of its high school scholarship winners who will receive a $1,000 California Jaycee Foundation Scholarship as a result of a competition completed in January 2023.
“The pool of candidates statewide that submitted applications was very strong this year making our choices very difficult,” said Mary Alessandra-Cook, chairperson of the Scholarship Committee at The California Jaycee Foundation. “We are pleased to award Joseph a $1,000.00 scholarship from California and recognize his success in our competition.”
Gentile grew up on a rural lake, worked in pear orchards and packing sheds, and bucked more hay than he would like to admit all while starting the Lake County High School Fishing Club and being its president.
He and his fishing partner travel throughout the United States competing in Bass fishing tournaments and are the highest ranked Western team in the U.S.
He is an outstanding scholar and triathlete, achieving a 4.23 grade point average while enrolled in challenging coursework at Kelseyville High School with dual enrollment in Mendocino College.
Gentile tutored students in science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM, through Americorps and plans on studying engineering and economics hoping to one day specialize in freshwater environments and cutting edge technologies to help agriculture-based communities.
Potential for future impact
Every candidate packet demonstrated exceptional work in academics, community involvement and personal leadership.
The submitted packets were reviewed by a team of business, professional leaders and educators for these criteria plus each student’s GPA, a personal statement, references offered, honors and awards and personal effort to learn and prepare to invest in themselves through further education.
“These young people are exceptionally talented individuals we believe will be part of an exciting future for California or wherever they chose to work in the world,” said Jim McMahon, president of the California Jaycee Foundation. “We believe Joseph’s drive in working hard, excelling academically, coaching others, and his volunteer efforts demonstrates the beginning of what we hope will be a fulfilling life helping others. “
Formed in 1964 The California Jaycee Foundation is a 501 C (3) tax exempt entity focused on leadership, education and community service.
The foundation board is made up of business, education and community leaders supporting young people making a difference in their community through service organizations like the Jaycee.
