Carlé Chronicle: Students of the week, challenging state testing

carleheader

Hello readers, and welcome to the Carlé Chronicle, your primary news source for all things Carlé.

Congratulations to Carlé High School’s students of the year, Kasandra Colwell and Jay Brown.

Kasandra was the Carlé Chronicle’s previous featured writer, and her articles were featured most of the year.

Alongside Kasandra, Jay has been working hard with his own endeavors while still giving great support to his fellow students.

Both of these young adults are passionate, intelligent, and very positive, and it’ll be great to see what the future holds for them.

David Ford is Carlé’s student of the week. In addition David also received a student of the week award from Lower Lake High School, possibly being the first student to achieve student of the week at both schools simultaneously.

Another big shout out to all our students who took the English and math state testing, which took place on new netbooks.

In my own personal opinion, the testing was both challenging and rewarding and really shows how testing has stepped up to match our new digital age.

With only three weeks left of school, students are preparing for graduation, which will take place on Wednesday, May 28, at 6 p.m. We’re all pumped to see our seniors graduate and move on to bigger and better things.

Our final silver level movie also takes place on May 28 at with all silver and gold level students adjourning to the library to watch a brand new flick.

Graduating student Jasmine McGee worked hard on a short movie for graduation, highlighting some of the most important events of this school year for the Senior class. She was helped by Chris Stutz with his movie making skills.

Our final student portfolios also are taking place with students Kobi Minard and Cody Perdock being featured this week.

When they’re not working hard, you can usually catch these guys at Carlé’s library, with Cody jamming on the drums or guitar and Kobi busy debating science and the finer points of life.

And finally, ever-vigilant student Roy “Buggy” Kirk has once again crafted some magnificent plaques, this time for both Konocti District’s Teacher of the Year and Classified Employee of the Year.

Charles Warren is a student at Carlé Continuation High School in Lower Lake, Calif.
