Carlé Chronicle: Time to buckle down

carleheader

Counting this week, we will have eight weeks left in the school year. We’re getting very close so all of you hopeful graduates want to turn in as much work as possible.

It’s time to buckle down and get every little thing done so you can enjoy your summer knowing you gave it your best.

Thanks to student Sabrina Farnan for taking over the job of designing birthday cards for the students at Carlé. Sabrina actually took over this job a while ago, but we wanted to make sure she received the credit that was due to her. Thanks Sabrina.

The T-Shirt contest has come to an end. This is probably Carlé’s most popular contest of the year to participate in. Plenty of Carlé designers, as well as some others that aren’t regular designers, designed and printed their very own Carlé shirts.

Various design ideas came through ranging from simple to very complex, with designs appearing on both the front and back of the shirts. Some of the designers included Lance Thurston, Danielle Stennet, Junior Garcia, Lukas Carlson, Roxie Perdum-White, Chris Stuta and Jesse Harrell.

Carlé’s prom is on it’s way, and so far it is turning out to be a very well planned event. Through student council Carlé as a whole has voted on just about everything to do with the prom and how it will play out.

We’ve voted on the songs, the theme, how much the payment to get in is, and everything in between. Carlé will be self DJing ourselves with music selected by our students. The prom is scheduled for Friday, May 10.

A gigantic thank you to Dr. Barry Munitz. This wonderful man has for five years now donated to Carlé $1,000 each year for the school to make our graduating senior plaques. This man is in no way required to do this for us and we’re very grateful for him to do this for us out of the kindness of his heart. This year we will be having about 25 graduates and Dr. Munitz’s donation really helps us make it special for them.

Student of the Week was Camari Onwuasoeze. Camari is a hard working and passionate student who definitely deserves this privileged award. He’s been at Carlé two years and will be graduating very soon. The staff voted unanimously for Camari this week. Congratulations on this honor.

Lance Thurston and Andrew Subjack have begun to take over as the new students who will run our daily morning bulletin for next year.

Every year and a half new students are trained by the previous students to do all the jobs that make Carlé so special, including running the tech for the bulletin, this article, all the recycling, all new designers for our school-based enterprise and many more jobs that help us be so special. Thanks to all our dedicated students who get the jobs done.

It appears that students Kassandra Colwell and Timothy Mcguire will be the students that this article is handed to after student Jesse Harrell graduates this year.

Jesse Harrell is a student at Carlé Continuation High School in Lower Lake, Calif.
