Carlé Chronicle: Update on student government

carleheader

The Carlé community would like to welcome new student Billy Martin.

Student of the Week this week was Timothy McGuire. Tim is one of the most loved students on the Carlé campus. Tim is a very hard working and intelligent student who shows up every day and has been a positive role model for all those around him.

Mug contest update: there is only two weeks left for everyone to get his or her designs into the media classes. The winners of the mug contest will receive free mugs produced from their designs by the members of the media class and will also be featured in the chronicle.

Speaking of designers, we’d like to congratulate our top designers here at Carlé. Nura Brown has been named head designer this year at the school. In addition, Lance Thurston, Mayra Pantoja and Junior Garcia have been designated as lead designers.

The Environmental Detectives Unit is coming to a close this year at Carlé. This is a key project for our portfolios. An approved report by our science teacher Angie Siegel qualifies as the problem solving portion of the portfolios.

Student government for the 2012-13 year of school has been officially elected by each of our advisories.

The following students are the representatives for each advisory class:

  • Alan's: Mayra Pantoja and Jesse Harrell;
  • Angie's: Levi Venuto and Nura Brown;
  • Mr. Maes': Summer Gunn and Andrew Subjack;
  • Steve's: Dane Pearson and Charles Trujillo;
  • Ms. Shrive's: Marla Mitchell and Michael Field.

The alternates for the student council are James Paul Harvey, Tyler Rose, Cari Wiebusch and Billy Martin.

Ms. Shrive will serve as the faculty advisor for the student council for this school year.

Finally, New Vintage productions is currently putting on the show “The Importance of Being Earnest,” and it is a wonderfully funny show. Those of you that love word play you'll certainly love this classic written by Oscar Wilde.

Their first weekend has already gone by but you can still make it this next weekend.

Date and times are 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, and Saturday, Nov. 10, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11. Tickets are $15 dollars each. I encourage you to go out and enjoy a genuine theater experience right here in Lower Lake at the Weaver.

For information call John Tomlinson, the founder and artistic director at 707-355-2211 or 707-355-2272 for Barbara Clark the marketing manager.

Jesse Harrell is a student at Carlé Continuation High School in Lower Lake, Calif.
