Carlé Chronicle: A great Back to School Night, upcoming contests

carleheader

Back to School Night was held on Thursday, Oct. 11, here at Carlé. It was a hit!

Plenty of parents and students came to listen, eat and have a general good time supporting the school.

As stated before students and parents showed up which is always a good thing to see, but as an added bonus the food was the best it’s ever been. To quote our math teacher Steve, “The food was fantastic!”

We’d like to list some students that brought some of the best food along with them: Cassie Garrett with pulled pork sandwiches, the family of Summer Gunn, Luis and Rosie brought homemade “churros,” Marla Mitchell a very special meat loaf. Thank you to all of you that brought such good food with you, it really enhanced the evening.

Here is what our principal, Dr. Jim Burger had to say about his first Back to School Night at Carle: “I really enjoyed it. It was a good turn out and it was very nice to see school connect to home. Having parents come out and show their support is very inspiring, I really enjoyed seeing that. Also, great food too, and plenty of it.”

For those of you that don’t know, we here at Carlé are having a mug contest where students can submit a design for a mug, and then get a free mug made by the students in the media class.

I personally like how that sounds. The only catch is that you have to design your own mug and sit down with another student to produce it. All Carlé students are welcome in this contest as well as every other contest we’ll have throughout the year.

In addition to the mug contest the media class has started designing and producing over 100 individual bookmarks that will be given to each and every student as well as all staff as a holiday present. We are aware that many students have a hard time during the holidays and that is why the media class decided that everyone will know that they are appreciated and thought of.

Quick update: At the end of this week we will be halfway through the second grade period which means we are one quarter of the way through this school year and that progress reports will be coming out for each student at the end of the week as well.

Student of the Week last week was Jay Brown. Jay is a kind and intelligent student who treats all those around him with respect. Congratulations Jay, we’re all very happy for you! Enjoy the pizza.

We would like to thank DJ’s Pizza of Lower Lake for their constant support of this important program at our school. They have been sponsoring our student of the week program for many years now. We all truly appreciate it.

Here at Carlé we have achievement levels for the students who are exceptional in their work and attendance.

The students that made our top level (gold) here at Carlé during the first grading period were: Mariah Bernal, Nura Brown, Emilio Gonzales, Ray Green, Kobi Minard, James Mora, Sienna Norton, Sara Peters, Steven Tracy, Charles Trujillo, Levy Venuto and Mayra Pantoja.

Jesse Harrell is a student at Carlé Continuation High School in Lower Lake, Calif.
