LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Time Bank of Lake County will hold its official launch celebration on May 21, at 10 a.m. during the Farmer's Market located at Steele Winery, on Thomas Drive, off Highway 29, near Finley.

Festivities include an introduction of the time bank and its services, a “ribbon cutting,” and the opportunity to participate in a fun, interactive game open to everyone present (no movement required!). KPFZ will also be on hand to broadcast the event.

Steve Elias, a Time Bank of Lake County co-coordinator, explained, “The Time Bank is a place where members can give and receive help from one another. Time is traded instead of money, and an hour of time is the same regardless of whether you're designing a Web page or driving someone to the doctor.”

Carol Cole-Lewis, the other co-coordinator, added, “We're excited by opportunity the Time Bank provides for Lake County residents to help one another by 'paying it forward' rather than feeling obliged to return a favor. Although much of the Time Bank is online, we're encouraging those with computers to earn time dollars and act as 'Internet buddies' to those who don't have them.”
