CLEARLAKE, Calif. – Members of the LGBT community gathered in the home of Mark Wickhamshire and Jack Troyer on Oct. 9 to listen to a conference call to the Stonewall clubs throughout California. This was one of several house parties held to support Senator Barbara Boxer in her reelection campaign.

The Senator was introduced by George Takei, the actor who portrayed Sulu on the famous “Star Trek” series.

After the introduction, Sen. Boxer fielded questions from the gay community, the two most important concerns being the repeal of Proposition 8, the Marriage initiative and Don't Ask, Don't Tell (DADT).'

The hourlong presentation was broadcast via long distance to San Francisco, West Hollywood and Sacramento and to Lake County's own burgeoning gay community.

With humorous quips about her hair since her opponent had mentioned it in one of her speeches as being “so yesterday,” the senator was greeted with cheers and enthusiastic applause, from the audience of several hundred gay voters.
