COBB, Calif. – Families are invited to take part in a Halloween event in Cobb.


The “Boo Bash” will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, October 30, at Rob Roy Golf Club, 16451 Golf Road.


The free event will feature a hayride, pumpkin patch, games and crafts.

NICE, Calif. – Come enjoy a Halloween party dinner and dance Saturday, October 30, at the Sons of Italy Hall.


The club will offer stew served family style with salad and bread.


Dress up for the costume contest and win a prize.


They will serve dinner and dessert at the club hall, 2817 E. Highway 20 in Nice.


The bar is open for socializing at 5 p.m. then dinner will be served at 6 p.m.


Enjoy dancing to music of Jim Williams, right after the meal.


All tickets are $15 at the door.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lakeport Kiwanis will host its annual Halloween Party on Sunday, Oct. 31.


The event, which provides a fun and safe way for children to celebrate Halloween, will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the gym at Clear Lake High School, 350 Lange St., Lakeport.


Admission is free.


All children preschool to age 13 and their parents are welcome.


There will be free games, candy and refreshments.


A costume contest at will be held at 7:15 p.m. with prizes for the best costumes.

CLEARLAKE OAKS, Calif. – The Lake County Democratic Central Committee will meet on Thursday, Nov. 4.


The monthly meeting will take place beginning at 7 p.m. at the Clearlake Oaks United Methodist Church Community Hall, 12487 The Plaza.


Agenda items include results of the November election, and reports from representatives for Congressman Mike Thompson, Assemblyman Wes Chesbro and state Sen. Patricia Wiggins.


Also on the agenda will be discussion of the committee's participation in the voter registration drive and success in registering new voters.


The committee will continue its voter registration efforts to make sure that citizens who wish to vote are prepared for future elections.


Chair Becky Curry encourages all Democrats to consider getting involved in Democratic Party activities.


Meetings are open to the public and committee membership is open to all registered Democrats.


The Lake County Democratic Central Committee is the official governing body of the Democratic Party in Lake County.

NORTH COAST – Caltrans reports that the following road projects will be taking place around Lake County during the coming week.


Included are Mendocino County projects that may impact Lake County commuters.


LAKE COUNTY


Highway 20


– PG&E of Ukiah has been granted a Caltrans Encroachment Permit for an aerial crossing 0.1 mile west of Linden Street on Sunday, Oct. 31. Work hours are 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Intermittent full road closures will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays.


MENDOCINO COUNTY


Highway 1


– Replacement of signal heads from the junction of Routes 1/20 to Manzanita Street will continue. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays. Contractor – Republic ITS of Novato.


Highway 20


– Caltrans will perform culvert repairs from 1.2 miles west of the Broaddus Creek Bridge to 0.5 mile west of Cropley Lane beginning Monday, Nov. 1. Work hours are 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate 10-minute delays.


Highway 101


– A metal beam guardrail repair project at various locations from 0.1 mile north of the Mendocino/Sonoma County to the Forsyth Creek Bridge will continue. Work hours are 5 p.m. Sunday evening through 7 a.m. Friday morning, 24 hours per day. The southbound offramp to Route 222 (Talmage Road Exit 548A) will be intermittently closed from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., Sunday evening through Friday morning. Motorists will be advised to use an alternate route and may experience minor delays. Contractor – Wahlund Construction of Eureka.


– A pavement repair project from the junction of Route 20/101 to Uva Drive will continue. Work hours are 8 p.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday evening through Friday afternoon. Northbound traffic will be restricted to one lane. Motorists may experience minor traffic slowdowns. Northbound ramps at West Road (Exit 557) will be intermittently closed. Motorists will be advised to use an alternate route and may experience minor delays. Contractor – Granite Construction, Incorporated, of Ukiah.


– A metal beam guardrail repair project at various locations from the Forsyth Creek Bridge. In four-lane sections work hours are 24 hours per day from 5 p.m. Sunday evening through 7 a.m. Friday morning. Traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction of travel, and motorists may experience minor traffic slowdowns. In two-lane sections nighttime work hours are 5 p.m. to 7 a.m., Sunday evening through Friday morning. One-way traffic control will be in effect, and motorists should anticipate 10-minute delays. Contractor – Wahlund Construction of Eureka.


– Installation of rumble strips from 0.5 mile south of Bell Springs Road to 0.6 miles south of Hermitage Vista Point will continue. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., weekdays. Traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction of travel. Motorists may experience minor traffic slowdowns. Contractor – Apply-A-Line Inc. of Anderson.


– A metal beam guardrail repair project at various locations from the Rock reek Bridge to the Bridges Creek Bridge will continue. In four-lane sections work hours are 24 hours per day from 5 p.m. Sunday evening through 7 a.m. Friday morning. Traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction of travel, and motorists may experience minor traffic slowdowns. In two-lane sections nighttime work hours are 5 p.m. to 7 a.m., Sunday evening through Friday morning. One-way traffic control will be in effect, and motorists should anticipate 10-minute delays. Contractor – Wahlund Construction of Eureka.


Highway 222


– Replacement of the Russian River Bridge will continue. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control with a temporary signal will be in effect 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Motorists should anticipate 15-minute delays during work hours and five-minute delays at other times. Contractor – CC Myers of Rancho Cordova.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – All UFO buffs, writers and readers are invited to join the meeting of the Lake County Flying Saucer Club on Saturday, Oct. 30.


The group will meet at 1 p.m. in the McDonald's meeting room on Todd Road in Lakeport.


Dress in costume if you like since it is the day before Halloween.
