Kelseyville Presbyterian hosts rummage sale Friday and Saturday

KELSEYVILLE – Kelseyville Presbyterian Church will host its annual rummage sale on Friday, April 9, and Saturday, April 10.


The annual event offers lots of great deals and treasures for interested buyers.


Proceeds will benefit the church.


Kelseyville Presbyterian Church is located at 5340 Third St., Kelseyville.

HazMobile event set for April 16 and 17

UPPER LAKE – The next HazMobile event will be held on Friday, April 16, and Saturday, April 17, at Upper Lake Community Park, 575 East Highway 20, in Upper Lake.


Hours will be from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Events may be canceled due to rain.


Households can bring up to 15 gallons of toxic items free of charge. A charge will be made for amounts above 15 gallons.


Items that are accepted include paint, solvents, fuels, 5-gallon propane tanks, pool chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, dry cell batteries, fluorescent light tubes (up to 60 feet free) and other toxins that cannot be put in the trash.


Excluded items that cannot be accepted are televisions, computer monitors, ammunition, explosives, radioactive materials or infectious wastes.

This is a residential service. Charges apply to businesses; phone 707-468-9786 for more information and business appointments.


Free recycled paint is available at Lake County Waste Solution Transfer Station at 230 Soda Bay Road in Lakeport on first come, first serve basis. Five-gallon containers of tan, brown, gray and pink are available.


Used oil can be recycled year round at a number of sites in the county.


The HazMobile program is subsidized by the Lake County Public Services Department Solid Waste Division.

Ridgeway wins historical society quilt raffle

KELSEYVILLE – The Lake County Historical Society recently announced the winner of its quilt raffle.


Kay Ridgeway of Kelseyville was the lucky recipient of a glorious hand-stitched quilt, skillfully crafted by Daisy Gawellek.


The group sincerely thanked Gawallek for her gracious donation that raised $503 towards the Ely Stage Stop & Country Museum. Thanks, also, to everyone who purchased tickets for the raffle.

Clear Lake Trowel and Trellis Garden Club holds meeting April 20

LAKEPORT – The Clear Lake Trowel and Trellis Garden Club will hold its next regular business meeting on Tuesday, April 20.


The meeting will be held at the Scotts Valley Women's Club House, 2298 Hendricks Road, Lakeport.


Coffee and cookies will be served at noon, flower roll call (members share what flowers are currently growing in their gardens) starts at 12:30 p.m., with the meeting beginning at 1 p.m.


The meeting will be followed by a program at 2 p.m. on vector control led by Dr. Jamie Scott of the Lake County Vector Control Office.


Scott will give an overview of their services and advice on how to protect against mosquitoes and ticks.


The club meets at noon on the third Tuesday of the month. Members, guests, and all interested are most welcome. President Jo Jameson, 707-263-4039, invites interested gardeners to join the group.


Clear Lake Trowel and Trellis Garden Club is a member of Mendo-Lake District, Calif. Garden Club Inc., Pacific Region and National Garden Clubs Inc.
