A while back I encouraged like-minded individuals (the Democratic wing of the Democratic party) to vote Nader in "safe" states. I was told there are no "safe" states.
I am concerned with the latest polls showing Nader with 4 percent in battleground states. Some polls have shown Obama doing better when Nader is included but I'm skeptical. As I wrote to the Nader campaign: "I'd rather see 15 percent in dark blue states and pray that 4 percent in battleground states doesn't hand the election to Republicans. Corporate America would be just fine with that, but I'll be freaking out!"
I made many calls to Ohio for Obama (Ohio worries me the most) and I think he needs to beat a 5- or 6-point spread in those states for the win. But in California we have a 25-point lead. I will be voting for Nader here – I want real change and the narrow path to electability is far too sleazy, I'll be surprised if Obama can rise above it (he now says he may tap CitiCorp's CEO to organize his new staff/cabinet and he voted against interest rate caps in the bankruptcy bill). It's too much like these phony slate fliers – they outta be illegal and those that use them, such as Comstock, should be ridden out on a rail but we just keep accepting it.
Well, I hope I haven't discredited myself too bad because there is one California issue where Californians can and will make a difference – I believe it strikes at the very heart of our Democracy. Vote NO on Prop 8! An amendment to our Constitution that legitimizes discrimination and exclusion. Come on folks – I know we are better than that! Vote NO on 8!

A recent article spoke about a $10,000 individual contribution to the campaign by his neighbor, Peter Luchetti. When asked about his contribution, Mr. Luchetti responded by saying his only motivation was due to his “long-time friendship and respect” for his neighbor.
Now, really. Are the voters of the District 1 expected to just leave it at that?
Mr. Luchetti states that he has no interest in developing his land. Well, that may be true – for now. But Mr. Comstock has let us all know about his plans for growth in Middletown and the Highway 29 corridor. He’s also let us know about his devotion to private property rights, which one is led to believe are the rights to develop.
And now, one large property owner is making a huge contribution that accounts for almost a third of Comstock’s’ total war chest – and we are supposed to swallow the story that it’s just out of loyalty and long-term friendship?
Voters, smell the coffee here. We deserve better explanations and are due more honesty than this.

Supervisorial candidate Susanne La Faver and her supporters have been making some pretty strong statements against Jim Comstock for receiving campaign support from “developers and land owners.” She even called the Lake County Farm Bureau – which supports Comstock – a “special interest group.”
Well, I did a little research and found that Mrs. La Faver’s LARGEST political contributor is Robert Riggs, who has given $7,133 to her campaign.
Now Mr. Riggs is a lawyer who states in his own professional advertising that he “represents developers and land owners.” This fact can be verified by simply viewing Mr. Riggs' Web site, www.katzoffriggs.com and www.katzoffriggs.com/AttorneyProfiles.htm#Riggs.
Talk about the pot calling the kettle black!
I would like Mrs. La Faver to explain why a lawyer who represents big developers is the largest financial supporter of her campaign for supervisor.
