SAN FRANCISO – The Postal Service has a comprehensive business plan that provides a clear path toward financial stability.
To return to profitability, the Postal Service must continue to take actions that reduce costs and grow the business.
The plan requires the reduction of annual costs by $22.5 billion by 2016.
This cost reduction is necessary given projected declines in First-Class Mail volume, which has already dropped by 25 percent since 2006.
However, the Postal Service can achieve only a portion of these reductions under current business model constraints; legislative changes are needed to achieve the full cost reductions and to provide the Postal Service with the flexibility needed to adjust more quickly to our customers’ changing mailing and shipping needs.
The Postal Service continues to work with Congress to seek comprehensive legislation to reform and improve the Postal Service business model. T
o return to long-term financial stability and to avoid burdening the American taxpayer, the Postal Service requires an urgent legislative remedy this fiscal year.
In the absence of legislative reform that quickly enables meaningful operational changes and cost reductions, the Postal Service could incur annual losses as great as $21.3 billion by 2016, and accumulate a total debt of $92 billion by 2016.
The Postal Service will continue to lose $25 million per day until it is allowed to fully enact its proposed changes.
The Postal Service does not receive tax dollars for operating expenses; it relies entirely on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – On Monday, April 16, local businessmen Eric Schlange and Don Davis will host a meeting about a new business opportunity gaining traction in the USA.

LAKE COUNTY – In partnership with Pacific Gas and Electric Co. (PG&E) Energy Training Center, the following free energy classes are being hosted by Lake County Energy Watch.
On Friday, April 27, “Auditing Electricity Use in Homes” will be held at the Best Western-El Grande Inn, 15135 Lakeshore Drive in Clearlake from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This class is designed for solar/PV designers, energy consultants, and contractors: electrical, residential, home performance contractors and more. Topics for this class include audit protocols, power monitors and effective control strategies.
“Solar Electric Basics for Residential Customers” and “Solar Water Heating Basics for Residential Customers” will be held in Middletown Saturday, May 19. from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. respectively.
Both of these classes will be held at the Calpine Geothermal Visitor Center, 15500 Central Park Road.
These classes are designed for homeowners interested in learning the fundamentals of solar power and will also provide an overview of the design, specification and installation aspect of solar water heating systems.
Registration is required for all classes, and complimentary lunch will be provided.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – Tickets for a chance of winning your choice of one of four pleasure boat packages have just gone on sale at several outlets in Lake County.
All proceeds benefit the Lakeport Main Street Association.
Tickets are $25 each. Value of the prize is approximately $25,000.
Boat choices include an 18 foot Reinell185-LS open bow ski boat; a 20 foot Premier SunSpree leisure pontoon with 50 hp outboard; a 16.5 foot Alumacraft Competitor aluminum multi species fishing boat; or a pair of Yamaha VX Deluxe Waverunners.
Each package comes with a trailer. Boats are provided by Hillside Honda Yamaha Marine.
Tickets are available at Lakeport Ford, Bicoastal Media, The Travel Center, the Lake County Chamber of Commerce and Hillside Honda in Lakeport, and also at Clearlake Radio Shack.
The drawing for the winner will be held after a minimum of 2000 tickets are sold.
Raffle entrants must be over 18 years old. Exact model, color and options may vary. Winner is responsible for tax, license, government fees and any other applicable fees or charges.
