COBB, Calif. – Like the scotch broom blanketing the scorched hills between Cobb and Middletown, Cobb Mountain Artists is pleased to announce the resurgence of its efforts to support and promote arts and crafts in Lake County.
Cobb Mountain Artists will be presenting two large arts and crafts shows this coming holiday season.
The first of these is the traditional Cobb Mountain Artists Christmas show, which will be held at the Twin Pine Casino Events Center on Saturday, Nov. 11, and Sunday, Nov. 12.
The second show will be at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Lewis Hall in Lakeport on Saturday, Dec. 2, and Sunday, Dec. 3.
Artists who are interested in being vendors at either of these events can contact Joanne Sharon at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call 503-781-6548.
The Valley fire took its toll on the ability of the Cobb Mountain Artists organization to function, as many of the artists which made up the group lost their homes and studios, and in many cases, their livelihoods.
Like the hills between Cobb and Middletown, it has taken nearly two years for the scars to heal in large part and for the rebuilding of lives, homes and studios to take place.
The upheaval caused by the Valley fire has resulted in substantial changes for most of the members, to the say the least.
Some have abandoned their art and have repurposed their lives. Some have found new directions for their art. Some have moved away, and some have rebuilt in place or just a few miles away.
Cobb Mountain Artists, a nonprofit organization, has never lost its commitment to providing an opportunity for artists from Lake County and the surrounding area to thrive by providing outlets to help them sell their artwork, and CMA is ready to resume this work.
