LAKEPORT, Calif. – Lake County CAN offers the free concert “Music, Methodists & Friends” at Library Park presented by Lake Circuit Methodists on Friday, Aug. 17 at 6 p.m.
Featured for the concert are two local groups: My Divas, an all women a Capella group who kicked off the Summer of Peace and Wing and a Prayer, the United Christian Parish contemporary band.
Attendees of the concert are encouraged to bring two to four cans of nonperishable food to help restock food pantries around Lake County.
This event will take place simultaneously with A Taste of Lakeport.
“Last year we (the Lake Ministerial Association) intentionally planned the music event be the same day as taste of Lakeport. It added quite a bit to our event, as folks brought their wine and listened,” said Rev. Shannon Kimbell-Auth, of United Christian Parish. “Just great music and pleasant company.”
“Lake County Can was kicked off in the spring of 2012 in Upper Lake and Clearlake to help stock food pantries around the county,” said Pastor Voris Brumfield, Lake Circuit chair. “Bringing people together in an inspiring way to help others is a goal of Lake County Can.”
Brumfield said they have scheduled two events in August, the concert on Aug. 17 at Library Park and the opening night of the Lake County Fair on Aug. 31, where four cans of food will get a person into the fair for free.
“All food gathered will help the needy of our county,” Brumfield said.
