LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lake Ministerial Association (LMA) is pleased to announce that Angie Everhart, a 2011 graduate of Clear Lake High School, has won this year’s “Effective Ambassadors for the Kingdom” essay contest.

Individuals were invited to submit a three-page essay highlighting the work of someone who has inspired them in the areas of Christian unity, faith-based groups working together and/or anti-racism.

In the past this essay has been limited to Martin Luther King Jr. but this year for the first time students were invited to write about anyone who inspired them in any of the topic categories.

Angie wrote about local pastor Rev. Shannon Kimbell-Auth and how the community ministries of the United Christian Parish have effectively changed her life for the better.

Her essay also talks about the value of youth going on missions trips, community VBS programs and “Lake County CAN!” a food event coming to Lake County in March that will package 20,000 meals in two days as well as stock seven local food pantries.

Everhart will read her essay at the Celebration of Christian Unity on Sunday, Feb. 12, at 7 p.m. at United Christian Parish, located at 745 N Brush St. in Lakeport.

In addition to hearing Everhart's winning essay, participants in the celebration will be treated to a variety of musical offerings from local churches and individuals.

Wing and a Prayer will open the celebration encouraging people to make a joyful noise together, Father Ron Serban will share his original song “We Are One,” Pastor Randy Brehms will tickle the ivories and United Christian Parish's Chancel Choir will share a special anthem, “Beyond Ourselves,” that is sure to inspire. All are invited to join.

This celebration is sponsored by the Lake Ministerial Association: First Baptist Church of Upper Lake, Chaplains of Sutter Lakeside Hospital, Galilee Lutheran Church, Gateway Church in Finley, Kelseyville Presbyterian Church, Lakeport Seventh Day Adventist Church, Lakeport Christian Center, St. John’s Episcopal Church, St. Mary’s Catholic Church and United Christian Parish.
