Volunteers who operate the Food Pantry say a great big "thanks" to Marjorie Anderson, her colleagues and customers at H&R Block, Lakeport, who collected and delivered this most timely donation.
The collaboration of H & R Block and St. John's Episcopal Church in Lakeport is an example of community efforts coming together to care for needy families.
Ongoing food donations to sustain St. John’s vital service are needed and appreciated.
“Families who cook meals are our key clients,” said Ginny Ingersoll, St. John’s parishioner and Food Pantry manager. “We focus on stocking nutritional food that is high-fiber, low in fat and sugar. We help create meals with recipes and food listed in a brochure by Grocery Outlet.
“Rice, tomato sauce, salsa and canned garbanzo, kidney and black beans are needed, along with oatmeal and applesauce,” she said. “Onions, garlic, apples, and carrots are also requested.”
Food donations are welcome at St. John’s during times coinciding with the church’s Basement Boutique Thrift Store open hours, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
To deliver food at other times, please contact Ginny Ingersoll at 707-245-3147 or Barbara Knight at 707-263-7802.
