Native American Advisory Committee to hold elections Jan. 9

PUBLIC NOTICE/ANNOUNCEMENT

2011-2012


The Native American Advisory Committee, NAAC, is dedicated to supporting and improving services and education being provided by Mendocino College to Native American students.


The committee meets monthly to develop support data that will eventually be presented as recommendations to the Board of Trustees and plan programs for Native American students.


The Native American Advisory Committee of Mendocino College is currently holding monthly meetings on the second Monday of every month at 11 a.m. at the Mendocino College Ukiah Campus in Room 1015.


Represented on the committee are members of the community, Mendocino College Native American students, faculty member appointed by the Mendocino College Academic Senate and college administrative staff.


Lake and Mendocino counties, reservations and rancheria education departments and tribal representatives, community members who have an interest in advising and supporting Native American Affairs at Mendocino College are strongly encouraged to attend.


One of the projects the committee is working on is to develop Native American curriculum in collaboration with faculty at Mendocino College.


NAAC would like for anyone who is interested to come and attend to share thoughts and interest.


They will hold annual elections on Jan. 9, 2012.


Anyone who is interested in becoming an officer of the committee, please send in a request to NAAC 1001 Hensley Creek Rd, Ukiah, CA 95482 and attend the Jan. 9 meeting.
