Adventist Health offers free stop smoking classes in Clearlake

CLEARLAKE, Calif. – Adventist Health Clear Lake is offering free smoking cessation classes for the community.

The Live Nicotine Free program is an eight-week program designed to help participants end their smoking habit or nicotine dependence.

The classes begin Thursday, Jan. 11, from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Adventist Health Clear Lake Medical Office in Clearlake.

The January start date is perfect for those making a resolution to start 2018 nicotine free.

The program is hosted by the Live Well Program and is open to all.

Participants will learn from a variety of presenters each week and receive support online, in person and from a mentor who has successfully quit smoking.

Those who attend all eight sessions will be entered to win a free massage and free teeth whitening at the end of the class.

“Nicotine makes the process of quitting smoking difficult for many people,” says Dr. Melody Law, MD, a chemical dependency specialist at Adventist Health Clear Lake. “Through these classes we create a community so that you are not alone and we equip you with skills to manage stress and nicotine withdrawal without turning to cigarettes, vaping or other unhealthy habits.”

Participants in the Live Nicotine Free program will have the opportunity to have a one-on-one consultation with Dr. Law as well as an optional Live Well assessment to address whole person health.

The program is limited to 20 participants.

To sign up for the free Live Nicotine Free classes or to learn more, call the Live Well Program at the Adventist Health Clear Lake Medical Office at 707-995-4545.

The sessions are held each Thursday from Jan. 11 to March 1 from 5 to 6 p.m. at the clinic, 15230 Lakeshore Drive in Clearlake.
