Hello again readers, and this is the Carlé Chronicle, your primary news source for all things Carlé High School.

Our student of the week was Jon Roper, a new student at Carlé this year, who comes in to school with a good attitude every day and focuses hard on his schoolwork and credits. He’s been a great addition to the school.

This Friday, Sept. 19, marks the end of our first grading period, and as of Friday, Carlé High School will be one-sixth of the way through the school year overall.

We’ve already been off to a great start, helping our new students get ahead and catch up on their credits. Every day our students get closer to graduating and reaching their goals for the future.

Carlé’s first student government meeting took place Wednesday, Sept. 11.

Student government is in charge of many events, from community service and field day opportunities, to the end-of-the-year prom in May.

Our first meeting had our students voting for student officers to represent them the rest of the year.

Their choices were made, and our officers this year are our student body President Paul Yanez, Vice President Dustin Wilson, Treasurer Solaya Mota and Madeline “Maddie” Hernandez acting as secretary.

Principal Matt Strahl took a few lucky seniors on a trip to the Mendocino College campus last Tuesday for an informative college fair.

This fair attracted many different schools and universities from all over, and helped inform many students about different college opportunities.

“I liked the trip,” said student Isaiah Piazza. “We got to go and walk all around the campus and see different colleges and what they had to offer. It was cool, we checked it all out around there and it was  fun.”

Student Kayla VanHorn added, “The trip gave me more perspective on college and what it might be like. It was pretty informative and showed me a lot of opportunities for my future.”

The seniors who went were Roy “Buggy” Kirk, Amaree Whiley, Isaiah Piazza, Madeline “Maddie” Hernandez, Jeremy Hunter, Kayla VanHorn and Chris Stutz.

We hope the trip helped them learn more about the college life and give them a new outlook on their future.
