LAKEPORT, Calif. – First Pick Builders Inc. is proud to announce the awarding of their annual scholastic scholarship this year to Jessica Romero.

Jessica has been an outstanding and diligent student throughout her entire schooling at Lakeport Unified School District, earning a 4.02 weighted grade point average.

Transcripts from Clear Lake High School attest to her successful completion of advanced placement courses in Calculus and Literature. She received gold and bronze awards for her efforts in the 2018 Academic Decathlon.

Romero also has shown exceptional contributions to her school and local community, volunteering for events such as Sponsoring Survivorship Run/Walk and Konocti Challenge.

She also has helped for two years as an assistant to the teacher for summer school programs for migrant education.

She will be attending the University of California in Merced, planning to major in mechanical engineering. She has chosen this institution for it’s relatively small size and nearby location. This will allow her to remain close to her family and the community that she calls home.

She plans to return to Lake County after her education and become a valued contributing member to the community.

Romero was the one candidate from the applying students who the company felt best fit the requirements of its $500 gift toward future education.
