California Connections Academy @ North Bay graduates 2018 senior class

MIDDLETOWN, Calif. – California Connections Academy @ North Bay, a tuition-free online public school serving students in transitional kindergarten through 12th grade, graduated 24 high school seniors at a commencement ceremony held at San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton on Monday, June 18.

Remarks honoring the graduates were delivered by Couper Condit, district director; Dr. Richard Savage, the school’s executive director; Kara Mannix, high school principal; Alexandria Yao, professional figure skater on Team USA; and Matthew Chen, the 2018 valedictorian.

Hundreds of family members, friends, teachers and administrators gathered to honor the students’ accomplishments.

One of the outstanding graduates, Madeline Eger from Petaluma, will attend Fresno State University in the fall to pursue a degree in forensic science. Throughout high school, Eger took several elective courses offered at California Connections Academy.

“The biggest advantage of Connections Academy for me was the flexible schedule and available course offerings,” said Eger. “Throughout high school, I took classes including psychology, criminal justice and introduction to law, all of which solidified my interest in pursuing forensic science.”

Valedictorian Matthew Che from Davis, who was dually enrolled in California Connections Academy and Woodland Community College since his sophomore year of high school, will attend UC Davis in the fall where he’s been admitted into the honors program for civil engineering.

Another student, Ethan Feil, was also dually enrolled since his sophomore year and plans to attend UC Davis to study biological science.

Other graduates include Noah Faber, who will attend UC Davis to study animal science, and Hannah Chapla, who plans to pursue a degree in education at Sacramento State University.

“On behalf of the administrators and teachers at California Connections Academy, I’d like to congratulate all our accomplished high school seniors on their achievements,” said Leslie Dombek, who serves as the North Bay school site administrator. “Several students were able to get ahead on college coursework due to the flexibility of online school, and others were able to take advantage of career-focused elective courses. We wish all of our graduates the best as they continue their education or begin their careers.”
