Carlé Chronicle: School hosts prom, outreach training

LOWER LAKE, Calif. – Carlé High School hosted its annual prom on April 20 at the campus.

The theme was “Fiesta” and had the quad decorated with cactuses, tiki torches, pretty decorative lights, tissue paper flowers, a photo booth backdrop, etc.

We would like to thank the DJ Andre Ari for putting on some of his best music and also to thank his whole family because they have all been disk jockeying our prom for several years.

I would also like to thank counselor Julie Colfax for putting on fantastic activities for everyone that night and also thank our lovely campus security officer Stephanie Green and Leo Flores for their wonderful spirits and presence. Jose Carrillo also pointed out that the decorations at prom were marvelous and very realistic. Thank you to our student council and the decoration committee. Prom looked so beautiful and was a night to remember.

We would like to congratulate Marbella Gabino, Hunter Chadwick and Maria Pizano for receiving student of the week! You guys have been incredible and hard working students.

Last week we had a student outreach training, which was very interesting. First I want to thank Jeff Devoll, Loren Freeman, Robert Rickett, Mason Gizard, and Adam Shipp for coming to our school and making an impact in our lives. Several people talked about their experiences with suicide or a traumatic event in their lives.

One of the stories that took an emotional toll on all of us was when a father got a message on a sticky note implying that something was wrong. His stepkids had gone with their biological father who was on drugs and very paranoid.

They were driving along an icy road and the daughter remembered that her father had told her that he was sorry and drove off the road committing suicide. She survived the car crash but her father and baby brother did not.

Our hearts ached throughout the whole story and prayers go out to the family and hope they heal from that.

The training helped a lot of us out and we are so grateful that they had the chance to come to our school and educate us on these hard to talk about but important things.

My final article will update readers on all the graduates and awards, retirees, the final gold level trip, scholarships that people will be receiving, etc.

Yailin Sanchez is a student at Carlé Continuation High School.
