Mendo Lake Credit Union offers scholarships

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Mendo Lake Credit Union is urging local students to apply for its annual scholarships.

The annual Arlene Colombini Scholarship is named in honor of the MLCU’s original founding member, Arlene Colombini.

All Lake and Mendocino County graduating high school seniors and college students who are currently enrolled full-time (12 units minimum) at Yuba College (Clear Lake Campus), Mendocino College or College of the Redwoods (Fort Bragg Campus) with a 3.0 grade point average or higher are invited to apply.

The 2015 application is April 13.

Scholarship winners will be announced at each school's senior awards night, followed by a press release in all local papers.

The application can be downloaded at https://www.mlcu.org/community/mlcu-scholarships-and-educational-programs/mlcu/ .

The Mendo Lake Credit Union Achievement Awards program honors outstanding high school seniors whose scholastic attainment, sense of responsibility, community service, and evidence of leadership give promise of success and service to society.

Certificates are awarded to students who have demonstrated excellence in a specific study area.

Two students, who represent the highest level of attainment overall, are awarded an honorarium in the amount of $50.

Students are chosen by their high school staff, and MLCU presents awards at the school's Senior Awards Night.

The credit union also sponsors scholarships for the community's Latino students.
