UKIAH, Calif. – The January 2014 edition of Sunset Magazine includes their 25 Best-Ever Recipes and Mendocino College Instructor Nicholas Petti is amongst the winners.
Petti is well known throughout the region for his award-winning crab cakes, and now Sunset Magazine agrees.
According to the Sunset article, “Petti’s crabcakes emerged victorious, thanks to its pure crab flavor and simple method.”
A little over two years ago, Petti was hired as the college’s first ever full-time Culinary Arts instructor at Mendocino College.
“He has created a dynamic and vibrant program which enables students to obtain the skills necessary to work in a variety of restaurant and hospitality occupations,” said College President Arturo Reyes.
In addition to teaching and overseeing the Culinary Arts Management Program, Petti and family own and operate Mendo Bistro and Barbelow in Fort Bragg.
“Petti’s award winning crab cakes were a featured item at the 2013 Gala Vine and Dine fundraiser and received rave reviews by everyone in attendance. In fact, we hope to feature Nicholas’ crabcakes and Caito Fisheries crab at this year’s Gala scheduled for September 20, 2014,” said Foundation President Richard Cooper.
