Carlé Chronicle: Halloween events and an update on the level system

carleheader

The Carlé Chronicle has some good news for students! You are all one third through the school year as of right now, and we hope you are all working very hard.

These are the topics that will be covered: the silver level movie, gold level field trip, special Halloween events, another run down of the level system, gift bookmarks for the holidays, stockings, Interact and the safe house, and upcoming graduates.

On Oct. 30, the gold level students from last grading period will be taken to Lakeside Family Fun & Event Center in Lakeport for the day to reward them for all their good work.

The silver level movie is going to be on Oct. 31. It will be a celebration for those who earned silver level, gold level, or bronze with 100 percent attendance last grading period.

Alan Siegel and student Mike Lanigan will be bringing a selection of movies and the awarded students will collectively vote on the movies they want to watch the most. There also will be popcorn.

Also on Oct. 31, the student council will be running festive activities after lunch for all of the students.

Now, a reminder on how the level system works here at Carlé, in case you had forgotten.

Carlé uses its level system to keep students motivated to stay on track in regards to earning credits, and to offer a reward for those giving all their effort. It takes one grading period to earn a level.

Students qualify for gold level by getting at least 90 attendance, earning at least one and a half credits in each class, with a total of at least 15 credits earned at the minimum. The rewards for gold level are a gold level field trip and an invite to the silver level movie along with a gold level pass that enables them to leave campus during lunch.

Students qualify for silver level by having at least 85 percent attendance, earning at least one credit in each class and at least 12 credits overall. The reward for attaining silver level is an invite to the silver level movie.

Students qualify for bronze level by having at least 80 attendance, earning at least half a credit in each class and at least nine credits overall. If a bronze level student has 100 percent attendance, they also are invited to the silver level movie.

Currently the student-based enterprise is making a bookmark for every human at Carlé. The bookmarks are customized to fit each recipient's interests. Another gift for the students that is coming around soon are customized decorative stockings.

Interact has helped make a garden at the safe house that they have done a great job at keeping up. Another upcoming Interact activity is a fundraiser for The Harbor On Main to fund new computers for helping and tutoring youth. For the fundraiser, Interact club members will sell hot chocolate and skull shaped cookies.

Some students are getting close to presenting their portfolios and graduating from Carlé! Those students are Timothy Mcguire, Lance Thurston and Steven Tracy. Congratulations on this milestone in your life and the Carlé Chronicle wishes you the best of luck with milestones to come.

As for the rest of the student readers, set goals for yourself and create plans to graduate by a certain time to help better motivate you!

Kasandra Colwell is a student at Carlé Continuation High School in Lower Lake, Calif.
