LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lake County Chapter of California Women for Agriculture (LCCWA) is offering Lake County classrooms the opportunity to apply for mini-grants to fund agriculture-related educational projects.
All Lake County classrooms from kindergarten through eighth grade are eligible to apply; projects must have an agriculture-focus.
“Our chapter is very excited to be in a position to offer these mini-grants to our community’s classrooms,” LCCWA President Annette Hopkins said. “Kids often have no idea where their food or clothing comes from. We hope that these grants will provide the spark that will enable our community’s classrooms to show local kids how important agriculture is in their daily life.”
LCCWA incoming president, Sharron Zoller, added, “So far this year, we’ve awarded mini-grants to the Kelseyville Kids Garden Club, the Mt. Vista Middle School Garden Project and the Cobb Mountain Elementary School Garden Club. We want to get the word out about this opportunity for the 2013-14 school year.”
The mini-grant application can be found at the chapter's Web site, www.lakecountycwa.org , under the “scholarship” tab.
