Carlé Chronicle: Farewell to the graduating class

carleheader

So this is it. This is the last article of the school year, and of my Carlé High School life.

The big theme here is the graduation of the Carlé seniors, and what that entailed.

There was a total of 22 graduating seniors, and 21 were present for graduation. Each Carlé senior was awarded a plaque with a unique title and design for each individual, and each senior received a scholarship! Of course we received diplomas as well.

Many of the staff attended the graduation and presented students awards. Due to a fire by her house Barbara Dye our one of a kind secretary who crosses all of our T’s and dot’s all of our I’s had to miss her first ceremony ever. However, Barbara was definitely there in person, especially when teacher Alan Siegel read her speech, word for word.

Kinene Barzin presented Nura Brown with the Interact/Rotary Club scholarship. LLCAG presented the Poppa Mike Award to Mayra Pantoja, as well as two scholarships to Nura Brown and Mayra Pantoja. Kiwanis presented the Hope of America award to Nura Brown.

A giant thanks goes out to two people in particular that did so much for the school: Russell Rustici for all of the scholarship awards he helped fund the last three years and more than 40 years to come and Dr. Barry Munitz who donated $1,000 to our media class so we were able to create the beautiful plaques for the seniors. Dr. Munitz has been Carlé's plaque sponsor the last four years.

The following is the complete list of all graduating seniors, their special plaque, and who presented it to them: Cameron Carrillo, The Athlete, by Steve; Charles Trujillo, The Artist, by Steve; Isaac Dominguez, The Stylin’ Award, by Robin; Josh Kennedy, The Nice Guy, by Robin; Camari Onwuasoeze, The Thinker, by Robin; Paige Finely, The Greatest Potential, by Angie; Trevor Wilson, The Travelin’ Scholar, by Angie; Brandon Thomas, Down to the Wire, by Angie; James Mora, Gentleman James, by Dan; Cody Beers, The Photo Finish Award, by Dan; Chelsea Cherney, The Most Determined Award, by Dan; Mayra Pantoja, Queen of Community Service, by Dan; Ray Green, Calm Amidst the Storm, by Dan; Antoinette Percoats, Miss Firecracker, by Pat; Blossom Neidenbach, The Sweetheart Award, by Pat; Levy Venuto, Eyes on the Prize, by Pat; Austin Weldon, Mr. Tech, by Alan; Junior Garcia, Media Man, by Alan; Jesse Harrell, All the World’s a Stage, by Alan; Danielle Stennet, Renaissance Woman, by Alan; Robert Jones, I Did It My Way, by Dr. Burger; Nura Brown, Student of the Year, words by Barbara Dye and spoken by Alan Siegel.

Congratulations and a big cheer to all of the Carlé seniors on graduating, make the best choices in your life as best as you can!

And from me, Jesse Harrell, a warm goodbye to all of you. I will miss writing to you all and I hope you’ve enjoyed what I’ve had to say.

For the next year to come, I would like to welcome the new writers of the W.C. Carlé Chronicle, Kasandra Colwell and Timothy McGuire! I hope you’re all very welcoming to them as they take over the reins.

Goodbye to you all and I hope you have a wonderful summer.
