Carlé Chronicle: Prom, open house just around the corner

carleheader

The biggest event of all is coming up on May 10, the Carlé Black-n-White Prom.

The big event is on its way and we’re all very excited! It will be held at Carlé, the tickets are $6 and presale only so make sure you buy your ticket from Secretary Barbara Dye ASAP.

Prom will be semi-formal so make sure to dress up but not too much, and finally there will be several activities to keep you occupied aside from music and dancing.

Our custodian Gary will be hosting card games throughout the night and winners will receive actual prizes so make sure you give the game a try.

Also teacher Alan Siegel will have video games going on his room with some special help thanks to student Camari Onwuasoeze.

Prom will be a huge event and we really want to see as many people there as we possibly can so come on out and support your school Carlé students, and have a bit of fun too!

Open house is getting closer. It is coming up on May 9. Everyone who can come, please do. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. and it is a potluck so please bring a food item with you to share. Every single student that attends will receive extra credit.

For you that don’t already know Open House is Carlé's chance to show off what it’s like to attend our school to parents and let teachers interact one on one with parents to give them as much insight as possible. It’s the chance to get a lot of information you might not be able to get otherwise, and the chance to eat some good food as well. We hope to see you there.

All of the Carlé designers are very, very busy at work creating all different kinds of plaques.

First off there are the Carlé senior plaques which will add up to at least 25 graduating seniors receiving their very own customized plaque. On top of that we’ve been contacted by school likes Lewis to help create plaques for their seniors as well and a couple of other special projects. So all of the Carlé designers really have their hands full!

Thankfully we have some great students here at Carlé so even though there is a lot to do with only a short amount of time, we’re not intimidated.

With that said I’d like to give a thanks to each and every Carlé designer, new and old, that has been such a big help during the easy times and the hard times. You’re a part of what makes Carlé what it is.

James Mora had his portfolio this last Thursday, May 2. James has been at Carlé the past two years and has excelled in sports as well as academics. We’re very happy to see him graduate even though that means leaving Carlé. James is among the proud seniors this year and he certainly deserves everything he has gotten thus far. Congratulations James!

This last week was the start of the sixth grading period which means there is only five weeks of school left to go! These five weeks will fly by very fast so make sure that you use this time wisely, especially if you hope to be a graduating senior this year.

Again, this isn’t the time to slack off and relax – that time is when school is over – so use this time you have to its full extent. Always try your hardest to succeed.

Student of the Week this last week was Carlé student Roxie Purdum-White. Roxie is another student who came just last year, but ever since she’s been here she’s worked hard and diligently. Going from school to a job is not easy but nevertheless Roxie does it with a smile on her face. Congratulations to you Roxie, you deserve it.

Carlé's van project is still going on and so far we’ve collected $1,750. Although this is a lot of money and we’re very grateful to have it, unfortunately it does not make us very close to our goal, which has now been raised to $60,000. The recent raise in funds is because of the necessity of two vans instead of just one.

We’ve figured out that only one van would not be enough to house all of the students we need it to. If any one would like to donate to our van fun please contact 707-994-1033. We’d be most grateful for any of your help of any kind to our fund. Thanks to all that have and will help.

A very big happy birthday goes out to our amazing superhero secretary Barbara Dye! Barbara is always such a big help and consistently goes above and beyond the call of duty every single day.

Barbara’s birthday was this last Monday, April 29. Thanks so much for everything you do for us Barbara and we all hope you had a great birthday and continue to have many more great ones.

Jesse Harrell is a student at Carlé Continuation High School in Lower Lake, Calif.
