Carlé Chronicle: Students staying hard at work

carleheader

The list of students who took the Early Assessment Program test for the determination of college readiness included Blossom Niedenbach, Josh Kennedy, Jay Brown, Lucas Stickel, Constance Hazelwood, Antonio Rosiles and James Mora.

Ms. Shrive held the test during lunch and sixth period in the library and these students put in some great efforts.

This Friday, March 21, was the half way point in this the fifth grading period. Progress reports will be given in every class the first Monday after spring break.

As we speak, the media classes and all students at the school are having a t-shirt contest. The theme is Carlé itself and students can submit their designs and get free t-shirts made of their artwork, designs or pictures.

One of our best designers, Junior Garcia, has designed a special plaque for our head designer, Nura Brown. This plaque was awarded at our sustainability assembly along with a special plaque of student and staff quotes made for Barbara Dye by student Andrew Subjack.

Here is the list of the Carlé students who received Sustainability Awards for retaining and/or obtaining Gold Level or Silver Level more than once.

Gold Level – four times, Kobi Minard; three times – Blossom Neidenbach and Timothy McGuire; two times – Lukas Carlson, Kasandra Colwell and Dane Pearson.

At least Silver Level four times – Junior Garcia, Emilio Gonzales, Ray Green, Joshua Kennedy and Roxie Purdum-White. At least twice – Isaac Dominguez.

Silver Level twice – Lucas Stickel, Sarah Terry and Steven Tracy. Silver four times – Lance Thurston and Rosie Wright-Trejo.

Congratulations to all of these students for sustaining such high credits each grading period. Each of these students received free items from our school based enterprise. They will now sit down with student designers to detail their awards.

Just a reminder, Carlé will have its official open house on Thursday, May 9, beginning at 5:30 p.m. All who attend will receive credit.

Gary Oakes, our Carlé maintenance person, has hung all of the flags from our flag contest around the quad here at Carlé. It is nice to see the students’ designs decorating the school. It gives the school personality because of its customized look.

Here is the list of the new additions to Carlé's student council: Constance Hazelwood, Nura Brown, Andrew Subjack, Esparanza Roberts, Charles Trujillo and Timothy McGuire.

The student council under the direction of teacher Robin Shrive will be hosting activities for the rest of the school year. More info on these activities to follow.

Jesse Harrell is a student at Carlé Continuation High School in Lower Lake, Calif.
