Carlé Chronicle: Bidding farewell to the lunch lady and a busy week ahead

carleheader

We here at Carlé would like to start out by congratulating our former lunch lady, Annette, on her brand new job.

We all wish you the absolute best with this new position and we are so very happy for you, but most of all we’d like to let you know how much we miss you.

Along with this thank you we would like to add an official welcome to our new lunch lady Brenda, and our new breakfast lady Sabrina. Plaques are being made by our school business welcoming them both.

As I had mentioned in a previous chronicle the Carlé mascot Scabby had to be put down not too long ago. Carlé designer Summer Gunn decided to make a commemorative mouse pad for Alan and Angie with a tribute to Scabby on it. Summer is in the process of making a mouse pad for super secretary Barbara Dye as well.

Summer said her reason for doing this project was because Alan “is always doing so much for everyone else.”

The Clearlake Rotary Sea Food Broil Benefit is coming up very soon. The dates for the event are Feb. 22-23. Dan Maes and Ed Zander will be supervising the event and all of the students that volunteer.

The event calls for about 15 students to serve and buss tables. All student volunteers will receive community service hours or extra credit. For sign ups see Mr. Maes at Carlé.

Carlé’s Big Ping Pong Tournament will be beginning this week during lunchtime. This event is being run by our student council. Once again the media class will make the winners and second place finishers special personalized medallions.

It's portfolio time for two of our very best designers and students.

Junior Garcia, a top designer, had his portfolio on Thursday, Feb. 14. Junior has been with us for a while now so we’re happy to see such a fine student and hard worker succeed.

Nura Brown, our head designer and Interact club member, will have her portfolio this coming week. Nura also has been with us at Carlé for quite a while and we’ve really valued our time with her.

This year in particular Nura has taken on a lot of responsibilities for the school itself, so for that we are all grateful for her hard work and dedication.

Nura went above and beyond hosting a special Valentine's Day fundraiser for student council. With the help of Constance Hazelwood and others, Nura created beautiful Valentine gift bags. Thanks to a few anonymous admirers every single student at Carlé received one of these coveted presents.

This week’s CHILY winner was Jesse Harrell. Harrell took home the Dragon Incense Burning Statue and it will find a home up on his dresser.

Jesse Harrell is a student at Carlé Continuation High School in Lower Lake, Calif.
