NORTH COAST, Calif. – The Redwood Region Logging Conference (RRLC) is pleased to announce their 2013 Forest Education Programs which are now available to local schools.
These programs are offered free to teachers for their classrooms by the RRLC to provide a positive learning environment about our forests and their endless cycle, while insuring a quality educational experience for all our local students and teachers.
The Logging Conference will be held in Eureka this year on March 14-16, 2013, however, many programs are still being offered to Mendocino County schools.
Teachers from kindergarten through eighth grade can sign up to participate in the mural contest, or request a resource professional (forester, wildlife or fisheries biologist, geologist, surveyor, etc.) to visit their classroom.
Classes that participate in the mural contest will compete for cash prizes and those classes not receiving a cash prize will receive a participation reward of $30.
The mural contest is being sponsored by Umpqua Bank. Visit the RRLC Web site at www.rrlc.net for details.
High school forestry students will have the opportunity to participate in the forestry competition during the week of the conference.
Also, Career Day will allow high school students to learn about the wide variety of opportunities the Forest Industry has to offer. Please call the office at 707-443-4091 for details on these events.
