LOWER LAKE, Calif. – Lake County Office of Education's College Going Initiative will hold an event to encourage girls in grades sixth through 10th to explore careers in fields traditionally dominated by men.
The event will take place on Saturday, April 28, at Lower Lake High School, 9430 Lake St.
Girls will have the opportunity to participate in hands on workshops, designed to introduce them to “a day in the life” of professions such as financial advisor, scientist, computer technology, construction, culinary, physician and many more.
Acclaimed international speaker Dr. Venus Opal Reese will keynote the event with her story of survival and success, “From the Streets to Stanford.”
The event will be hosted by Lower Lake High School and sponsored by Mendocino Community College District and Regional Occupational Program.
