CLEARLAKE OAKS, Calif. – Students from East Lake and Lower Lake Elementary Schools were part of a presentation to the Clearlake Oaks/Glenhaven Business Association demonstrating the Lego robots they had made with kits supplied by the Children's Museum of Art and Science (CMAS).
Eli Bauer, Jules Manning and Alex Schenck told the audience about the two-step process: first build a robot out of Legos with sensors and small motors, then program it on a computer to follow commands or play sounds.
The boys all agreed that the kits were fun to use and hoped that kits and laptops would become available for students in Clearlake Oaks.
CMAS is working in partnership with the Konocti Unified School District in running a pilot robot program at Lower Lake Elementary.
CMAS is planning a fundraiser at the Moore Family Winery on Saturday, April 21, to raise money for their annual art and science camp as well as to expand the Lego robot program to other KUSD sites.
Anyone seeking more information or wishing to schedule a presentation about the robot program is encouraged to call Carolynn Jarrett at 707-994-2878.
