Welcome new and returning Carlé High School students of 2011 and 2012!

This year we have new students and some new staff. First off we need to welcome Mr. To, our new principal.

While we are all going to miss Principal Ed Zander, it's time to welcome Mr. To with open arms. We also have a new counselor Sean Duarte who will be taking over for Bobby.

Before we mention all the new students joining us it's time to give a shout out to some of the students that make Carlé the wonderful place that it is!

To start we thank Dylan and Jerry for doing the recycling during sixth period. We also thank Derek for joining our school to help run the media room, even after his graduation. Derek will work in our media as community service for college.

Joining Derek in the media room will also be Austin, Frank and John handling the morning bulletin.

Doing birthday cards this year is Raina and she was recently joined by Dawn. We can't forget that we also have Darren, Levi and Ashley working on the yearbook this year!

Now last but hopefully not least we have the team that will be making the newspaper every week. This team is made up of Christina Green and Jade Fox.

Now for reminders for all Carlé students. Last weekend we had the Blue Grass festival and one of the first opportunities to earn volunteers hours.

Carlé students don't forget to go to back to school night on Sept. 29; it will start at 6 p.m. By going to back to school night you can earn six hours of extra credit. Blue Heron also will be having their back

to school night on Sept. 29, and it starts at 5:30 p.m. We also have the highlands field trip on Sept. 23.

Portfolio time! We recently had a portfolio presentation for Jessica Johns. For all of the new students who don't know what a portfolio is, it's a slideshow that you make to show all of your progress and hard work at Carlé. Every student has to do one to graduate, and deliver it to the staff.

Carlé also is proud to announce and amazing 91 point gain on our state API and the recent testing. This score puts us up there with the leading comprehensive high schools in the county. Needless to say we are all very proud.
