Students and staff were welcomed back to school, their “second home,” after a wonderful break off of school to enjoy the gifts spring has to offer.

This year's Spring Bling was won by Angie's Advisory (Holly Brumback, Shannika Chandler, Charles Drake, Zachary Gray, Teesha Greer, Joseph Griffith, Jessica Johns, Paul LaRue, Justin Lindsey, Kimberly McCarty, Cody Perdock, Raylon Ray, Richard Skinner, and Robby Smith). Angie and her winning advisory will be awarded with a beautifully designed plaque created by Nia Edmunds.

The Care students who volunteered and helped out with the art and science camp were Jorge Vieira, Jonathan Warren, Austin Weldon, Jake Brumback, Monica Jackson, Holly Brumback, Dylan Ward and Lucas Powell.

“We had a great time and everything went very smoothly. The teens who showed up were very helpful

> and engaged and we appreciated their involvement,” said Carolynn Jarrett.

Good job Carlé' High School students for showing your love for our community!

Barbara Dye, last year's classified employee, celebrated her birthday April 29. We would all like to wish the heart and soul of Carlé' High School a very happy birthday!

Along with special presents from the staff student Alex Gutierez presented Barbara with a handmade giant card signed by all of the students and designed by Alex and Heidi “Roo” Kratz.

In other news, the staff student luncheon preparation begins on May 5 and 6 for the last staff-student luncheon of the year, taking place on May 13. We would once again like to thank the local Soroptimist club for all they do to make this great event happen.

Prom will take place this week on May 7. This will be a magical night for the students and staff to dance the night away and make ever-lasting memories that will last a lifetime. This night will truly show, that time really does fly by.

The theme has already been ordered and the prom committee and student government are working hard to ensure prom will be no less than marvelous. Student Stevie Cook has designed some amazing prom tickets.

STAR testing will take begin on May 9.

Open house is just around the corner taking place on May 12, this night brings the students, staff and parents together to all get on the same page about what is truly important – the student's education.

Paintball club is getting another chance to mark their opponent. On May 13, students will again gather on Larry Turner's land to get into this creative zone to challenge each other to a few games of paintball.

We would like to thank Larry Turner for allowing us to participate in these fun activities on his land. Mr. Turner has been generous and we want to let him know how much it means to us.

Student Jorge Viera designed a special plaque for Mr. Turner that we will present to him along with a copy of this article in the quad at Carlé. Thanks again, Mr. Turner, for this special opportunity.

Portfolios this week: On May 5, Nia Edmunds and Aarons Mearns will be presenting. Monica Jackson and Alexandra Gutierrez will present theirs on May 12. Congratulations graduating seniors!

Student of the week this week was Shannika Chandler. “Shannika is an excellent student, she's always on task, she always turns in assignments on time. She's a joy to have in class,” said said teacher Verna Rodgers.

Senior plaques are in the process of being carefully constructed for each individual graduating student. Thanks to donations by the wonderful “kind heart awarded,” Dr. Barry Munitz, students will be able to take home these little pieces of art named by the teachers and made by the students. What's more Carlé spirit than that?
