Students had practiced very hard for Dec. 11's annual Christmas caroling with Dr. Heidi Morgan of Yuba College.

“I'm very excited to have had 12 Carlé High School singers for our caroling this year. We sang at Meadowood Nursing Center, the Konocti District Office, Lower Lake Elementary and Yuba Community College's Christmas party. The students were very enthusiastic with extremely beautiful voices to follow. It was an honor to sing with all of them,” said Dr. Morgan.

The students that were involved in this terrific occasion were Ashleigh Short, Emily Thompson, Robert Potter, Kayellia Lansdowne, Stephanie Trout, Tonya Smith, Darren Gasperoni, Holly Brumback, Monica Jackson, Justin Lindsey and Lucas Powell.

Another Lower Lake Community Action Group dinner was held on Wednesday, Dec. 8. Our student team of helpers were Ellie Hackler, Karalena Cole, Stevie Cook, Tyler Sterling, and Aaron Mearns.

“We have the best team working together, and we would all like to send best wishes to Kelly Slater

hoping she gets well soon,” said Carlé team leader Ellie Hackler.

“We really enjoyed helping Rotary this year with the Christmas dinner that took place at Burns Valley Elementary School on Dec. 11. It benefits many families in our community by providing food and gifts for our children. We appreciate Kinene Barzin for being the liaison between Rotary and Carle High School,” said Principal Ed Zander.

Student of the week this week is Leah Davidson for all she does for our school. She helps recycle every day and is a great member of student council.

“Not only is Lisa Davidson an amazing student but she is also is amazingly helpful as my classroom aid,” said teacher Verna Rogers.

Carlé's OM (Odyssey of the Mind) Team has begun their journey together recently deciding the topic they will further explore for this year's competition.

Building a Goldberg Machine one step at a time we have a great team this year, and know it's going to be very exciting. Thanks to Principal Zander and Kim Van Horn for helping start OM this year.

OM tournament members include: Karalena Cole, Stevie Cook, Lisa Davis, Dylan Ward, Tonya Smith, Kayellia Lansdowne and Justin Lindsey.

Finally, Carlé would like to give a big shout out to Middletown teacher Lisa Kelly who was awarded State Teacher of the Year officially this week at a ceremony in Sacramento. Our own teacher, Alan Siegel, was part of the state teacher of the year selection committee and was on hand in Sacramento to

cheer Ms. Kelly. Congratulations on your wonderful award, Ms. Kelly!

Karalena Cole is a student at Carlé Continuation High School in Lower Lake, Calif.
