We very excited to announce that Carlé has received yet another six-year accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

“When talking with WASC throughout the year, I was told they rarely give six-year accreditations but we are ecstatic to announce that we received a six-year accreditation with a three-year, one-day review,” said Principal Ed Zander.

The Ashland field trip went great. All the students who went said they had a great time and enjoyed the plays.

“It was absolutely awesome! This was the best group I've ever taken and it was an incredible place. I would like to thank the students for being so good,” said Verna, who supervises the Ashland trip every year.

The plays were really emotional but 'Pride and Prejudice' and 'Hamlet' were funny. 'Ruined' was more sarcastic.

“The town of Ashland was really lush and green all the way through. Overall the trip was amazing!” said Nia Edmunds, one of the students who attended the trip.

The students who went were Matt Brown, Danielle Hudson, Jake Everhart, Lexi Nance, Ellie Hackler, Bianca Frias, Kayellia Lansdowne, Kinesha Wilson and Nia Edmonds.

On Memorial Day, the Skidmores who support Carle's paintball club, will be having a flea market on their business' lot, Four Starr Auto Repair, to raise money so Carlé can have our paintball club next year. We are all very grateful for the Skidmores' generosity because paintball has been very popular this year and we could not have this without them.

Yearbooks will be handed out the last week of school to every student who paid for them!

Speaking of the last week of school, graduation is right around the corner! It will be held on Lower Lake High school's football field on June 9 at 6 p.m.

We would like to thank Kodi Burr, Kara Boyce, Christina Ortega and a host of others for making the senior plaques for Carle's seniors! They had about 40 plaques to make and 10 for Lewis School's graduates. They did an amazing job on each plaque and we hope our seniors will cherish them for many years to come.

We would also like to thank Erika Streckfuss for filling in for Barbara Dye, our secretary every day after lunch to ensure Barbara can have a well-deserved break.

We have about 25 students signed up on Memorial Day to help with the parade and barbecue on May 30. The parade begins on Lower Lake's Main Street at 11 a.m. and the barbecue will follow. Bill MacDougall's band, Without a Net, will be playing in the park starting about noon.

Finally, our student of the week was Nick Ford because he has done a great job here at Carlé and always has a great attitude. He is an amazing musician and volunteers to help wherever it is needed. Keep up the good work Nick!

Andrea McMullen is a student at Carlé Continuation High School in Lower Lake, Calif.
