This article marks the end of the fourth grading period, meaning there is only 33 percent left in this school year!

So of course, open house is right around the corner. It will be on April 1 and everyone is encouraged to bring a hot dish. Whether you can bring a dish or not, we would like to have every Carlé student and their families attend and have a good time.

We had our Wyo Tech field trip on March 4 and it went very well. All of the students had a great time and learned a lot of information about the three schools they visited: Wyo Tech, Yuba in Marysville and UTI.

“The field trip went very well, it was very good to see the differences between the schools,” said Principal Ed Zander.

Also, we have Alan Siegel running the Carlé contingent for the Soroptimist Night Live community service event that took place Saturday March at the Clearlake Senior Center. Students will set up, serve, help with the auction and clean up afterwards.

We would like to thank Harriet Rogers for generously donating a fishing pole and a model sponsor boat to any Carlé student with 90 percent attendance or better. We will have a drawing to determine the winner.

Finally, we are all very proud of Jonathan Truax, Phoenix King, Christina Ortega, Rebecca Englander, Lisa Davis, Justin Boyce and Jeremy Burton, the members of Odyssey of the Mind who competed in the regional competition at Santa Rosa High and came in second place! Santa Rosa High came in first.

The Odyssey of the Mind Group said the regional competition was amazing, and it was fun and unique to see how the other OM members acted out their problem solving skills. They said it will be interesting to see them again at the finals.

Next up for our award-winning OM team, they will be going to Brentwood on March 27 and competing in the state finals.

Finally, Carlé High school would like to congratulate student of the week Alyssa England. Alyssa has worked very hard every day to improve her skills and put herself on the track to graduate. Alyssa has been a model of hard work and perseverance.
