Stonewall Democratic Club to meet Jan. 24

CLEARLAKE OAKS, Calif. – Celebrating its third year, the Lake County Stonewall Democratic Club will hold its first meeting of the New Year on Monday, Jan. 24.

 

The meeting will be held in the Friendship Hall of the Clearlake Oaks United Methodist Church, 12487 The Plaza. The potluck starts at 6:30 p.m., with the meeting to commence at 7 p.m.

 

The members will elect new officers and discuss their plans for 2011.

Raw living foods rejuvenation class planned for Jan. 30

LAKEPORT, Calif. – Join raw foods chef Christina Basor for a raw living foods rejuvenation class on Sunday, Jan. 30.


The class will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Hartley Lodge, 375 N. Main St., Lakeport.


Come to the class, have fun with friends, and enjoy a delicious lunch.


Basor will teach you how to make sunflower sprouts, sauerkraut, garden wraps with tomato basil dressing, herbed almond cheese spread with pizza crackers, garden blend energy soup and sunflower seed pate. As always lunch is included.


In the raw rejuvenation class, she will teach you how to make sauerkraut, which aids digestion and builds the immune system.


Learn how to grow your own sunflower greens – living foods rich in enzymes, protein and nutrients.

Special Olympics Polar Plunge plans Feb. 26 polar bear plunge

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – Lake County Special Olympics is holding its second annual Polar Plunge fundraiser at Lakeside County Park in Kelseyville on Saturday, Feb. 26.


Come and see the wacky costumes judged at 11:45 a.m. and witness the plunge into Clearlake at noon.


Those too chicken to take the plunge may join the chicken coop and stay dry. A post plunge party hosted by the Kelseyville Lions will follow the plunge.


This is the group's main fundraiser for the year, which supports more than 100 developmentally delayed athletes as they participate for free in basketball, track and field, golf, weight lifting and bowling.
