Bastille Day celebration planned for July 14

NICE, Calif. – Featherbed Railroad Bed and Breakfast will host a Bastille Day celebration on Thursday, July 14.


The event will begin at 4 p.m. at the resort, 2870 Lakeshore Blvd.


There will be a potluck, and attendees are invited to bring their own instruments to play.


Bastille Day is a French national holiday that celebrates the storming of the Bastille prison on July 14, 1789.

Kenner family fundraiser scheduled for June 18

LAKEPORT, Calif. – A fundraiser dinner for sheriff's Sgt. Brian Kenner and his family will be held on Saturday, June 18.


The event will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Terrace Middle School cafeteria, 250 Lange St. in Lakeport.


Brian Kenner has served this community as a sheriff’s deputy for the past decade.


He and his family are now in need of the community's support because he is recovering from a traumatic brain injury that he suffered during a fall at work.


There will be a spaghetti feed and bake sale, with live and silent auctions.


Tickets cost $10 for adults, $5 for children.

Lower Lake Historical School Preservation Committee to hold July 9 meeting

LOWER LAKE, Calif. – The public is invited to the 23rd annual board meeting of the Lower Lake Historical School Preservation Committee on Saturday, July 9 at 12 p.m.


The meeting will be held in the Weaver Auditorium of the Lower Lake Historic Schoolhouse Museum, 16435 Main St.


A light luncheon will be served, followed by a short meeting for the presentation of the annual report and election of officers to the board.


Participation on the board offers a great volunteer opportunity for those interested in the history of Lower Lake and environs.

Stonewall Democratic Club to meet June 27

CLEARLAKE OAKS, Calif. – The Lake County Stonewall Democratic Club will meet on Monday, June 27.


The meeting will be held at the Clearlake Oaks United Methodist Church, 12487 The Plaza, Clearlake Oaks.


Potluck will be at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 7 p.m.


The group will discuss plans for the annual Clearlake Worm Races during the July 4 festivities.


All registered Democrats are welcome, especially those who belong to the LGBT community.
