The event will begin at 8 p.m. in Fritch Hall at the Lake County Fairgrounds, 401 Martin St.

This year’s show includes an all-star lineup of comedians and will be hosted by Kelseyville’s Rob Brown.

The three comedians performing include Bay Area favorite, Pat McCoy, Tim Halderman and nationally touring headliner, Kenny Bob Davis.

With more than 50 years of combined stage experience, these standup veterans have performed around the globe for thousands of comedy fans ranging from club and casino audiences to US military personnel on land and sea.

McCoy is originally from St. Helena and appears at clubs throughout Northern California.

In addition to his own weekly show at the Wild Vine Bistro in Danville, McCoy has performed at major Bay Area clubs, including Tommy T’s, Perpperbellys and Rooster T Feathers. His casino credits include Black Oak Casino in Sonora and Twin Pine Casino in Middletown.

Halderman is an accomplished actor now in his 12th year doing standup. A recognizable face from his many TV commercial appearances, Halderman’s credits include the movie “Dante’s Peak” and the TV shows “The Secret Life of Zach and Cody,” “ER” and “The Drew Carrey Show.”

Headlining the evening will be Las Vegas favorite, Kenny Bob Davis.

Like Halderman, Davis is a recognizable figure from his many movie and TV roles, including “Gremlins,” “Murder She Wrote” and “Mad TV.”

An accomplished musician, Davis has shared the stage with legendary acts including Willie Nelson and The Gatlin Brothers.

Davis connects instantly with his audiences thanks to a larger-than-life personality and an avalanche of jokes. As soon as he hits the stage, you will see why Davis is in demand in Las Vegas, Tahoe and clubs across the US.

This great night of comedy for a great cause will include auction items, finger foods and adult beverages.

CLEARLAKE OAKS, Calif. – The inaugural fundraiser dinner for the Frank Toney Memorial Scholarship will take place on Saturday, April 9.

The steak dinner, with live and silent auctions and a 50/50 raffle, will be held at the Clearlake Oaks Moose Lodge, 15900 Highway 20, at the “Y” intersection with Highway 53.

A no host cocktail hour will take place from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., with dinner from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., followed by the auctions.

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Funding from the Integrated Waste Management Division of the Lake County Public Services Department and CalRecycle, residents are still able to dispose of used tires at no cost.

Residents of Lake County may dispose of up to 20 tires per year through this program at no cost. Tire Amnesty includes passenger or light truck tires, up to R19.5, with and without rims.

The Tire Amnesty program is not for commercial, heavy duty, farm, or heavy equipment tires – or for more than 20 tires per year per person.

With the recent heavy rains and warming temperatures, tires stored outdoors make an ideal breeding ground for mosquitoes.

The Tire Amnesty program makes it easy and affordable for residents to clean up around their homes and properly dispose of tires.

A waiver is required before transporting nine up to 20 tires, which is free of charge to obtain.

Tires may be taken to either Southlake Refuse & Recycling, 16025 Davis St. in Clearlake, or Lake County Waste Solutions, 230 Soda Bay Road in Lakeport.

Customers will be asked to show proof of Lake County residency and sign a form noting the number and origin of tires. Commercial tire, auto repair, or salvage businesses can not take advantage of this program.

Funds for the Tire Amnesty program are limited – so residents are encouraged to drop-off waste tires soon.

When funds to subsidize the proper disposal of tires are depleted, the program will end. Please contact the Recycling Hotline at 707-263-1980 for status and information.

Bigger tires or more than nine tires?

1. A waiver must be obtained from Lake County Environmental Health, 922 Bevins Court in Lakeport, 707-263-1164. There is no cost for the waiver.

2. Pre-approval must be obtained from Lake County Public Services prior to disposal. Please call the Recycling Hotline at 707-263-1980.

3. Application for a waiver must be made before transporting the tires to a facility as it takes a minimum of a full business day to process the paperwork.

Why is proper tire disposal important?

California is faced with the significant challenge of diverting or safely managing more than 44.4 million reusable and waste tires generated each year.

It is estimated that fewer than 250,000 waste tires remain in stockpiles throughout California. These stockpiles pose a potential threat to public health, safety, and the environment.

While nearly 75 percent of used tires are recycled, the rest still end up in landfills or illegal stockpiles. If not managed properly, scrap tires are a potential threat to both California's environment and public health and safety. Illegally stockpiled tires also pose a fire risk and are attractive habitats for rodents and insects.

Failure to obtain a waiver to transport more than nine tires can result in fines ranging from $10,000 to $25,000 per violation per day and increased administrative penalties from $1,000 to $5,000 per violation per day and is enforced by the California Highway Patrol.

The highway, hit by a major landslide last week, was partially cleared by Caltrans crews and set to be reopened at 2 a.m. Monday, April 4, the agency said.

One-way controlled traffic will be in effect, according to Caltrans. Motorists should expect 30-minute delays.

No further closures will occur unless significant slide activity resumes. Crews continue to work 24 hours a day to complete slide removal, repair the roadway and monitor the slide.

The highway was closed on the morning of Wednesday, March 30, due to a large mudslide approximately one mile north of Dean Creek, approximately 60 miles south of Eureka.

Caltrans will issue another update by noon on Monday, April 4.

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – An evening of music, pizza, cake, drinks and boisterous fun was held on Saturday, March 19, at Guido's Pizza Parlor in Kelseyville.

The inaugural Golden Lopper Awards was presented by the Highland Springs Trails Volunteers.

This event honored all the hard work and hours contributed by many community members at Highland Springs Recreational Area over the past year.

More than 50 volunteers were given personalized awards consisting of am individualized framed photo and funny quip, along with further good-humored testimonial of their meritorious service.

Live music was provided by “The Bogtrotters,” a last minute, impromptu guitar/ukulele group comprised of Katie Riley, Brenna and Connor Sullivan, who sang popular songs and an original composition written for the occasion.

The event was hosted by Kim Riley and Karen Sullivan, the co-founders of Highland Springs Trails Volunteers.

This group organized more than 22 public work days last year totaling over 1,270 volunteer hours.

The majority of work days offer a catered lunch, courtesy of Quincy Andrus, after a morning of work.

During the hot summer months, they offer a weekly Trail Work and Happy Hour which consists of a couple of evening hours of work followed by potluck gourmet snacks and drinks.

Volunteers include members of Sierra Club, Audubon, California Native Plant Society, Hooves and Wheels Carriage Club, Back County Horsemen, Clearlake Horsemen and the Lake County Dressage Society.

Over the past year, downed trees and brush have been cleared from trails, trail surfaces improved and leveled, and damaged trails repaired, along with cutting back vegetation on overgrown trails.

Highland Springs Trails Volunteers also hosted several Sierra Club hikes, a historical presentation on the history of the former resort, and a Wildflower walk, as well as a continued photo file of native plants and wildflowers.

A new kiosk was erected in the parking area by the dam recently to provide information regarding trail conditions, placement of an upcoming printed trail map, and photos of native plants to the area.
