Kelseyville High graduation to include fireworks June 16

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. — Community members are being reminded of a fireworks display that will happen on Friday, June 16, at Kelseyville High School.

The Kelseyville High School Class 2023 commencement ceremony will include a fireworks display at the end of the Friday night ceremony.

The display is expected to take place around 9:20 p.m. at the high school stadium. It has been a tradition since 2000.

The actual display will take place over a five-minute period but residents are advised to take the necessary precautions with pets that might be sensitive to the noise.

Kelseyville HIgh School has worked with local police and fire agencies and has taken the necessary steps to ensure a safe and enjoyable event for all.

The event has been paid for through the fundraising efforts of the Class of 2023.

Middletown Luncheon Club meets June 21

MIDDLETOWN, Calif. — What do you know about the Middletown Art Center, known to locals as MAC?

Founder Lisa Kaplan will discuss the ways that MAC is contributing to community development and well-being.

Learn about recent projects originated at MAC that have engaged local artists to create avenues for meaningful cross-cultural exchanges.

Lunch will be served by MAC on Wednesday, June 21, at noon, at the Middletown Senior Center, 21256 Washington St.

The program will end by 1 p.m.

For only $5 per person, enjoy baked fish with rice pilaf, carrots and peas, a wheat roll and grapes. Everyone is welcome.

Reservations are required for lunch. Call the senior center at 707-987-3113 to make your reservation.

The programs occur 11 months of the year (no meetings in December) and always take place on the third Wednesday of the month.

Third Honoring All Voices Community Visioning Forum planned for June 26

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — The Countywide Community Visioning Forum Planning Committee is inviting residents to attend, “Honoring All Voices: Exploring Respect, Fairness, and Inclusion in Lake County.”

It will take place from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Clearlake City Hall, 14050 Olympic Drive.

This third Community Forum will welcome input and experiences from all gathered, through questions such as the following:

• How do you define respect, fairness, and inclusion?
• What gets in the way of you and your family getting your needs met in Lake County?
• What history must be acknowledged to begin community healing?
• How do you think the county can improve to ensure healing and support so that all community members feel respected, included, and reach fair outcomes?

The discussion will be facilitated by Nicole Anderson and Associates Consulting LLC.

Childcare and light snacks will be provided.

Spanish and American Sign Language interpretation are available.

Junior Giants looking for more sign-ups for summer league

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — Did you know that there are Junior Giants baseball and softball leagues in Clearlake and Kelseyville?

Junior Giants is a flagship program put on by the Giants Community Fund, a nonprofit affiliated with the San Francisco Giants.

Junior Giants has been offering free, noncompetitive, coed baseball leagues for over 25 years (and recently Added softball), and they serve 30,000 players in 87 leagues and 70 schools across Northern and Central California, Oregon and Nevada.

The Lake County teams are still looking for more players before the season starts on Monday, June 12, with practices and games starting mid-June.

Beyond getting kids outside to exercise and meet others in their community, the Junior Giants program also teaches character development with tips on health, education and bullying prevention.
