New mobile and web apps available for CalFresh and Cash Aid EBT cardholders

LOWER LAKE, Calif. — The California EBT Project, in partnership with the California Department of Social Services and the county’s EBT vendor, Fidelity Information Services Inc., will be providing a new mobile application for EBT cards.

The ebtEDGE Mobile Application and Web-enabled Cardholder Portal will be available for EBT Cardholders Nov. 10.

This is the only app that is approved by CDSS for your EBT card. Please stay tuned for more information on where to download the app.

What does this mean?

This tool will allow Cardholders to access their card information, and modify access using new features like:

• Biometric Access-Touch ID, Fingerprint or facial recognition on your mobile device.

• Block Transactions-Internet, and out-of-state transactions, either temporarily or permanently.

• Freeze and Unfreeze Card-Turn “on”/”off” your card when you want, and as often as you like.

• Card Replacement-a replacement card can be requested if card is lost or damaged.

• Change Pin-Ability to change your PIN when you want, and as often as you like, to keep it secure.

If you have an account already set up on https://www.ebt.ca.gov/cardholder/ :

• CA EBT Cardholders that are currently registered and have used the existing Cardholder Portal, available at www.ebt.ca.gov , since September of 2022, login credentials (username/password) will be migrated during the deployment.

• Cardholders with successfully migrated credentials will be prompted on their first login post deployment to set challenge questions to enhance the security of their existing accounts.

• Cardholders who receive the username/password is “invalid” message when attempting to login or want to register for the first time following the deployment will follow the instructions on the login page of the application.

EBT Customer Service will be available to assist Cardholders during the deployment and with new registrations. EBT Customer Service can be reached using either of the following methods:

¿Qué significa esto?

Si ya tienes una cuenta configurada en https://www.ebt.ca.gov/cardholder/:

• Los titulares de tarjetas de CA EBT que estén registrados actualmente y hayan utilizado el portal de titulares de tarjetas existente, disponible en www.ebt.ca.gov , desde septiembre de 2022, las credenciales de inicio de sesión (nombre de usuario/contraseña) se migrarán durante la implementación.

• A los titulares de tarjetas con credenciales migradas correctamente se les pedirá en su primer inicio de sesión posterior a la implementación que establezcan preguntas de seguridad para mejorar la seguridad de sus cuentas existentes.

• Los titulares de tarjetas que reciban el mensaje de nombre de usuario/contraseña "no válido" al intentar iniciar sesión o quieran registrarse por primera vez después de la implementación seguirán las instrucciones de la página de inicio de sesión de la aplicación.

Eastlake Landfill, Public Services office to be closed Nov. 10

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — The Eastlake Landfill will be closed on Saturday, Nov. 11, and the Public Services Office will be closed on Friday, Nov. 10, in observance of Veterans Day.

The Eastlake Landfill and the Public Services office will reopen on Monday, Nov. 13.

Regular operating hours at the landfill are 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

The Public Services Office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Free hunter safety course offered in December

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — A one and a half day hunter safety course will be offered to the first 12 applicants on Dec. 2 and 3 at the Highland Springs Range House, located at 3800 East Highland Springs Road.

The course will cover gun safety, principles of conservation and hunter ethics.

Students will have an opportunity to meet a game warden and experienced instructors, and will get hands-on experience with safe hunting equipment.

Successful completion of the class and exam will qualify you to obtain a hunting license.

Prior to the class all students will be required to read the “Guide to Hunting Responsibility and Safety” for two hours of class credit.

All prospective students must register with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife website for this class.

Once you have registered you should immediately contact Robert Bridges at 707-263-5187 to obtain a copy of the class material.

Class hours will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3.

Students should bring a lunch and something to drink as there is no potable water at the range.

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. — As Veterans Day approaches, the Kelseyville community is gearing up for a morning filled with patriotism, delectable pancakes and unwavering support for our dedicated veterans.

Kelseyville Girl Scout Troop 10145 proudly presents its second annual Veterans Day Pancake Breakfast at the Saw Shop Public House, scheduled for Friday, Nov. 10, from 8 to 11 a.m.

The cost is $10 per person for homemade pancakes, tasty eggs and savory thick slabs of bacon, along with orange juice and coffee.

Mark your calendars because this event is more than just a delightful breakfast; it's an opportunity for our community to come together and pay tribute to our local heroes.

The dedicated members of Kelseyville Girl Scout Troop 10145, renowned for their commitment to community service, will act as both hosts and servers for this special occasion. With beaming smiles, they'll be busy flipping pancakes and serving syrup to ensure an unforgettable experience for all attendees.

But that's not all. Your participation in this delicious breakfast will also create a profound impact. All proceeds from the event will be dedicated to supporting Wreaths Across America, a cherished organization that honors veterans resting at the Kelseyville Cemetery.
