LAKEPORT, Calif. – Like they do on the first Friday of every month (except July and August), the Lakeport Women’s Civic Club recently hosted lunch for more than 60 members at Riviera Country Club.
At that meeting the club also finished the year with President Pat Norcio presenting donations to Caroline Denny of North Lake Adult Care and Ginny Craven of Tango Mike.
Now they will rest for the summer before getting started again in September with a new lineup of officers and subcommittee chairpersons who will be eager to see how many ways they can find to raise money and share it with the many entities around the county that make life better for our citizens.
New officers will include incoming President Clare Stenge, President-elect Julie Hernaez, Vice President Alice Nihil, Treasurer Kathy Knickermeyer, Financial Secretary Mary Lee Hawkins, Ways and Means Secretary Audrey Powers, Facility Coordinator Stephanie Codling and Parliamentarian Sandi Miller.
Tricia Frazer will take on her third year as recording secretary while Betty Martin takes on a 14th year as corresponding secretary. Cheryl Robbins will begin her 14thyear as a board member having acted as president-elect, president, secretary, ways and means and auditor, as well as scholarship chair, historian, culture chairman and too many subcommittees to count.
The Lakeport Women’s Civic Club is very proud to have increased its roster to 107 members as of the close of the year on June 2.
The club is a wonderfully diverse, energetic group of mostly professional (at one time or another) women who excel at pulling together to get things done.
If you are interested in having lunch with a great group of gals once a month – a wonderful opportunity to gussy up and spoil yourself a bit while contributing to such a constructive organization – then join them on Sept. 1. The meeting will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Riviera Country Club with lunch and an informative program to follow.

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – This spring Hospice Services of Lake County said thank you to 130 volunteers who contributed more than 6,000 hours to assist the agency in 2016.
In addition to acknowledging the services of the 130 community volunteers, Hospice Services representatives presented special awards to volunteers in six different categories: patient support, bereavement services, thrift stores, community ambassadors, fund development and administrative support.
Recipients of the special awards included Pat Gill, Ria Penning, Linda Keyes, Barbara Kossen, Gwen Landeck-DeRosa, Janice Jennings, Barbara Fain, Mike Curran and service dog Eddie, and Stuart Sobel.
“Hospice Service volunteers emulate what is good in our community, and we are fortunate to have such a talented group of individuals supporting our agency,” said Hospice Services Volunteer Coordinator Terry Phelps.
“Volunteers are an integral part of the Hospice team, serving in a variety of roles ranging from patient support, thrift store operations, bereavement services, administrative services, community relations and fundraising,” Phelps added. “Many individuals contribute their time as a way of giving back because they have been personally touched by Hospice care at some point, and others just have big hearts and the dedication to serve our community.”
Hospice Services of Lake County is a nonprofit agency serving all of Lake County for more than 37 years.
The organization is dedicated to providing patients and their loved ones the highest quality medical, emotional, and spiritual care at the end of life’s journey.
