Mendocino National Forest seeking comments on Four Beetles South Forest Health Improvement Project

MENDOCINO NATIONAL FOREST, Calif. – The Mendocino National Forest’s Grindstone Ranger District is seeking public input on issues, concerns, and opportunities associated with the proposed Four Beetles South Forest Health Improvement Project (Four Beetles South).

The proposed action is to improve forest health on approximately 1,200 acres, 30 miles west of Orland in Tehama County.

The majority of this acreage is in the Grindstone Creek watershed and a small portion is in the Thomes Creek watershed.

The main aspects of Four Beetles South involve reducing tree density, removing roadside trees, using prescribed fire, applying fungicide and restocking within the project area.

Comments will be accepted for 30 calendar days following posting of the scoping letter on the “Four Beetles South” project Web page, http://www.fs.usda.gov/projects/mendocino/landmanagement/projects.
